traveling with fresh herbs

i'm taking a 5+ hour trip by car tomorrow. DD and i are staying at our destination for a week, and i want to take dill, basil, mint, and cilantro from my herb garden to use for cooking throughout the week.

can someone tell me the best procedure for cutting, packaging, and transporting it, to keep it as fresh as possible?

thanks!

Until you get there, I'd just wrap the stems in a damp papertowel and stick 'em in a ziplock or container with a lid.

You can also just wash them, pat them dry, and put them in a container . . . then keep them in a cooler bag with an icee thingy. Fridge when you get to your destination.
