Histadine and gastric secretions??

Ok so im sure all of you detox mamas, already know this, but i was just reading about the Histadine Amino Acid, and that it initiates gastric secretions!

Now the reason this is relevant to me, is that when dd was tested for allergies, her Dr said that not only was dd not medically allergic to anything, but that she oddly had a low # of "allergen producing cells" and her body was chemically unable to have an allergic reaction. He said that a normal persons level is around a 9, and my dd had less than 1.....i can only assume that he was referring to histidine.

So if she has abnormally low levels of it, and it is what makes gastric secretions for digestion of food, maybe that is the issue here. That she doesn't have enough hisatine in her system to digest food properly?

Anyone following me here, or already know all of this?

How can i elevate my dd's histadine levels? I know that its found in cheese, legumes, almonds and beef, but most of those are off limits. (how ironic...or is it?)

Is there a chance you're thinking of histamine? From my reading on stomach acid, some things that stimulate release are partially digested proteins in the stomach, especially amino acids, calcium, and histamine specifically plays another role in releasing stomach acid. Histadine is converted to histamine in fermented foods, and is high in a few others like eggplant. Here's a list with more.

Well yeah histadine is the amino acid correct? And histadine is the precursor of histamine?

What turns histadine into histamine?

If it is Histamine you're referring to, there is a histamine supplement I recently found (but havent tried) called Histame. Not sure this is helpful or not, but just in case...

BTW my dd only has issues digesting certain proteins. And she ends up with an irritated gut, and bleeding. So that is why the red flag went up for me. Maybe her body isnt getting enough histadine to turn into histamine and therefore she cant digest nutrients properly.

Very cool! I might try it! Thanks!

Does she fail the beet test? (Eat some beets and get pink pee?). That was an easy way to tell that my DS doesn't have enough stomach acid, which leads to less digested protein, and in his case intolerances to some proteins.

The next step for us is to try to feed him beets along with various digestion promoting foods, and see if he still fails the beet test (I'm trialing raw goat's milk kefir at the moment, we'll probably also experiment with whatever other fermented foods we can get into him).

Ok there is absolutely no way im going to get dd to eat beets. LOL!

I dont think its an issue with her stomach, i think its all an issue with her gut. Although whenever she get irritated she does get a lot of green poop. And her dr said its green from the bile not being reabsorbed back into her body, because her intestines are so irritated that it doesn't have time to before it is excreted.

I said my DS would never eat beets either - he horked roasted beets! I think beet chips work too. It only took a tsp of beets to fail DS. It could be tied into your bile issue - I think stomach acid stimulates the proper stuff getting released in the small intestine, so it could be related for you? I know that in a healthy gut, the stomach does a huge amount of the digestion of protein, so that the intestine doesn't have to work nearly as hard (or in the case of our LO, get so irritated!).

Yeah, it's the low pH of the tomach that denatures proteins to make them easier to digest, and the low pH that activates the proteases that break down the protein into amino acids. So not enough HCl would make for undigested proteins in the gut, which would make for irritation, which would speed up transit time and bile would keep its color. Part of the color change of bile has to do with but bacteria breaking it down.
