And the winner of the "Best Mom of All Time" Award is...

My mom! Why? She just bought me a brand new Honda C-RV. Why would she do this? Because she doesn't think I should be driving my 2000 Pontiac Sunfire that she got me when I was 18, with a baby because it doesn't have side airbags. (And in all fairness I paid for that puppy. She just put the $1000 down.) She asked if I was planning on getting a new car when the baby was born. I told her my husband and I couldn't afford it. So she asked what I wanted. I told her the C-RV and she bought me one. Maybe I should of said a Mercedes?! lol I do believe that my mom is the best mom of all time. It's not like my parents are rich. They make maybe $150K a year. (My husband and I make what...$40K if that.) My mom is in the process of expanding her business so she's looking into how to finance that she might have to put her house (which is paid off) up for collateral. I still can't believe she got me a car...suv...What is the C-RV classified as? It's bigger than a car, but not as big as an SUV.

All I know is I totally need to be ready to take care of my parents in their old age because they have gone above and beyond for me. :

I always knew my parents were awesome, but this is big even for them. They have always encouraged us to do things ourselves and figure it out. I guess a baby changes everything.

I have the <a href="http://www.target.com/Britax-Boulevard-Click-Carseat-Cowmooflage/dp/B001E5CDUK/ref=sc_qi_detailbutton?ie=UTF8&pf_rd_r=0RAATFS08X8 EBRE2BZ7C&pf_rd_p=465357931&pf_rd_i=B001E5CDUK&pf_ rd_s=bottom-6&pf_rd_m=A1VC38T7YXB528&pf_rd_t=510">Britax Boulevard Click Safe Carseat - Cowmooflage</a> on my wish list. It's super cute. Yes I picked it out cause it's cute. I have to do more research on car seats, but I think investing in a convertible one will be best for us.

Most newborns do not fit properly in a Britax. I recommend doing some research - the Family Safety forum on here is a great place to start. There was a thread there recently showing pictures of a newborn in a Britax - the poor little one was positively dwarfed by the seat. You would most likely either need a baby bucket or a different convertible.

Thanks. I'm super excited. I feel like I'm 16 again and just got my first car. My sisters both got cars with sunroofs and leather and cd players...When I got my car my mom just opened her business so money was tight so they couldn't afford anything better. I always felt screwed as a teen cause my sisters' cars were so much better than mine. I didn't even have power locks or windows.

My parents and I with my baby sis went to my dad's parents' house today and they are like "Who's care is that?" and I told them that my mom and dad bought it for me and then my mom said "No I bought it for my grandson since her car only had front airbags. I don't want him dying because she's poor and can't afford a better car." lol Thanks mom. I would of gotten pregnant sooner had I known I would of gotten a car out of it.

It's a baby gift my birthday gift my Xmas gift my easter gift my St. Pattie's Day gift etc etc etc.

Thanks for the info. I have to look it all up. It says they should fit at 5lbs. I was a little over 7 lbs and my husband was 10 lbs so I'm expecting a good size baby.

Melissa, there's way more info (and pictures) in the Family Safety forum, but basically, the minimum weight has nothing to do with the poor fit of Britax convertibles from birth. The baby's shoulders must be at or ABOVE the harness slots and even with a really large/heavy baby, their torsos are just not long enough to fit that criteria. In the past, manufacturers have allowed the seat to be used regardless of the harness height, as long as the weight requirement was met. That's not the case anymore.

This picture is of a 7lb, 11oz, 20.5" tall newborn in a Boulevard and she's WAY, WAY too small for the seat- there are several inches from her shoulders up to the bottom harness slot.

You can find several pictures showing the same thing over in the Family Safety (car seat) forum here at MDC. Even more pics and info at www.car-seat.org

How nice of her.

Please tell her not to mortgage her house for her business. She really doesn't want her home on the line like that.

: as well. She could take out a line of credit at a bank for just what she needs. Dh did it and we paid it back very quickly.
