Should I just ditch the hemp?

Ok, I am diapering my second and I have always had a love/hate relationship with hemp inserts. We use a variety of pockets (mostly FB) and a combination of cotton prefolds, microfiber, bamboo, and hemp as inserts. The only ones that consistently stink and need frequent stripping are the hemp. As soon as my son pees they smell like ammonia and then days in the bucket and they are so strong smelling. I have used many different detergents, adjusted the amount that I use, tried baking soda and vinegar, bacout, bleach, you name it. The hemp just stinks. They are trim and absorbent so I hate to give up, but I just love the cotton prefolds because they are also absorbent and NEVER stink, they are just a bit more bulky.
So ladies, what do you think? I have more then a dozen Joey Bunz Premium hemparoos, FSOT?:

have you boiled them? hmm i dont know what id do if i was you. maybe just keep some for if you needed something really trim under clothing, and get rid of the rest.

If you're having to constantly wrestle with them though, it's no bueno. My very favorite inserts are infant prefolds. They just get cleanclean so easily.

I don't have any good advice for you, I'm afraid, besides boiling or bleach. I just always find it so interesting that some people have trouble with hemp. People say it, I know it happens, but it's never been an issue for us. It just makes me wonder if the difference is in the water? the machine? the kid's pee? I have no idea. My mf stinks, but not my hemp. Weird.

I had MF stink until I switched detergent and then my hemp started to stink
I use oxyprime and love it for all our laundry, but I had ditched my vinegar rinse a long time ago and I going to add it back and see if it helps.

I dunno what to tell you, my hemp always stinks too. But the hemp microfiber combo is the only thing that gets us through the night. I find that what helps the most is putting VERY few diapers in a load, which just seems wasteful to me. So when I am having a stink problem I try to wash every 1.5 days, but doing this all the time seems wasteful when I don't NEED to do it. I'm at a loss too. And like you, it is only my hemp.
