Kelly-great idea! I'll have to try it w/ DD when she's a bit older. I'm really bad sometimes at remembering to talk to her. I have a little song I sing to her at bedtime that never goes quite the same way, but it starts out something like Sleep little A, it's time for you to sleep, nighttime is for sleeping, that's what people do, A is a people, she should sleep too ... So far, despite my impeccable logic, she's not buying it, and usually insists that bedtime is actually about 2 hours after we sing this song. Alas.

At about 4 weeks she started showing much greater tendencies to suck on things and grab onto thinngs she comes in contact with. I think I've heard two syllables out of her as well. At almost 5, she's also started showing more interest in looking at toys.

yay! i love this thread!

pearl (7 wks yesterday) has been smiling for what seems like weeks, but it never ceases to delight me...i love looking at her after i've been looking away and catching her just BEAMING at me...its like she's just waiting for me to notice.

i also love when a smile is accompanied by a little squeal or sharp intake of breath...

she's definitely seeing a lot more, and today i saw her follow her brother as he walked by her...

her neck is quite strong and her lower half is starting to turn when i have her on her back, like she's learning what it takes to roll over. she scoots pretty far when on her tummy, too.

the cooing is so cute, too!

i love how squishy and wonderful she is. all my previous babies have been little stringbeans...its nice to have a squishy one.

Sophia is 10 weeks old. She has been smiling for likr 5 weeks now and cooing for like 4. She will "talk" back for so long and gets so excited and smiles.

She has laughed too as of this week. That cute baby laugh, that sounds like an "kakaka" or something like that. Also and this is my favorite, she now caresses my belly while I nurse her.

She also grabs onto my shirt while I hold her, sometimes my hair. She holds her head up really well, has been doing so since 1 month. She's not a fan of tummy time, can mostly get her to do it on my chest. She only rolls from front to side.

We call her standy (amongst the many nicknames), because when you hold her up, she'll stand in your lap for a couple of seconds. She now likes toys and books. She goes crazy when I read The Circus McGurkus by Dr. Seuss, starts smiling and batting her arms and legs everywhere.

The funniest thing she does is that when Im eating something, she follows the food with her eyes and starts licking her lips. I always go "Soph! But you cant eat that yet!".

emma's only real nicknames are shark attack (for how she eats) and princess poopy-pants.

I got a real smile today! I was sitting on the floor, and AJ was in his bouncy seat, and I had just fed him and changed him, and I said in a squeaky voice, "You gots a full belly and a clean diaper! YAYYYY!" and he gave me a big smile. I got a picture of it, I'll have to upload it. : It only lasted about 10 seconds, but I'm looking forward to more of them.

He also started battng at things...I had him on his play mat, and there are the dangly toys, and I got a video of him batting at the alligator rattle. It's on my facebook.

And as far as nicknames, we call AJ "Pterodactyl" because he makes these weird screachy noises when he is waking up..lol Sometimes I call him "Dragon" too, because when he gets mad, he breathes in and out of his nose really fast like he's going to shoot fire out of his nose, it's hilarious..lol

Liam is waking up finally he still sleeps most of the day but he has some lengthly awake times. He has started batting at his mobile and looking at it. He has also started to coo which is so cute because he has to move all of his body parts just to make one little sound. ahhh babies so sweet.

7 weeks adjusted
almost 3 months!

Isla's been smiling a lot lately, but really likes it when I sing to her. She's also started cooing. It's so cute. I'm having to remind myself to interact with her more (aside from basic care), I feel like all I do is nurse her and pop her in the sling, as I'm constantly trying to keep tabs on my almost two year old. "Isla time" is at a premium. But we're in love with her more and more every day.

We're definitely getting social smiles here now, although they're still few and far between. Her whole face lights up and its adorable! We also seem to have hit another milestone ... 5 hour stretches of sleep! I've also successfully put her down for a nap 2 days in a row. I hope, hope, hope this continues!

My lil man is quite Mr. Personality! He is a cooing, smiling, LOUD gas releasing (lol), jumpy, happy booby baby! He has been smiling and cooing since last week. im soo proud of my lil 7 week old, but he growing a little too fast for me =[.

Yesterday Sophia grabbed my thumb, she was so focused and kept opening her right hand to grab it, then would release it and grab it again. She did it like 10 times, today we were laying in bed and I have this blue tshirt that has a bunch of rainbow letters and she kept trying to grab those too, she got mad when she realized she couldnt really grab them lol

We call her the trippy baby now too, because she loves colors and trippy things. We have Christmas lights and that's what we used for light at nightime, she stares at it forever, loves the colors.

Also this very trippy paisley pillows we have, she loves staring at them and laying on them and now my shirt. She also loves my screensaver, is the bubbles one that comes with Vista.

I'm finding this too. Darcy doesn't get much of a look in while she's happy and either in the sling or bouncy, because Jambin, my 2yo just needs enormous amounts of attention. I'm hoping that all the talking, singing, reading that I do for Jambin is benefiting Darcy too.

OMG...2 months old today, and the past 3 nights AJ has skipped his 2:30-3am wake and slept till 4:30-5am. : I'm hoping this becomes a habit, because the extra sleep is wonderful! And he's so much happier with the extra rest himself.
O rolled over for the first time last night. I went to get him out of his crib for his 5am feed and he was on his back kicking his legs starring at the ceiling! (he sleeps on his tummy)
Sophia has rollover 4 times in the past two days, from her tummy to her back only. She was laying on my lap and rollover once and I put her back on her tummy and she did it again, she seemed to think it was fun, but hasnt done it again.

Nice :
For the last 3 nights, Darcy has slept through from 7.30pm til midnight or so. It feels blissfully indulgent to have both children in bed and be able to chill out by myself watching rubbish TV for a few hours, then leisurely go to sleep for a few more hours, THEN get up to feed her

Darcy hasn't rolled yet. How old were all your LO's when they rolled? I think my son was 12 weeks when he did it for the first time.
