my fun with nonstop BH contractions

Yesterday I had BH contractions that were coming every 5-10 minutes for over six hours. After like four hours I called my midwife, who advised me to the the standard stuff, and wait for them to go away. I drank glass after glass of water and other liquids. I laid down all afternoon and evening. I took a long bath. They just kept coming!

They didn't hurt, so I really didn't think they were doing anything, and I mean, I've been in labor, I know what it feels like. But still you know how you're always supposed to go in if you have runs of contractions like that...meh. I went in finally at 11:30 and my cervix was totally closed, not effaced at all. Everything looked a-ok on the monitor, it only picked up like one of the contractions. They were still coming when L and D released me. I finally just caved, desperate for relief, and drank a glass of wine. They stopped and I fell asleep. THAT WAS FUN.

For the past 2 days Ive had that some problem. Granted, not as frequent. But very frequently for me.. Not in regular intervals...
I didnt know drinking wine would calm them.
Perhaps if this issue arises again I will take advantage of that!

Yeah, my midwife even suggested it. Any alcohol will do I think, just keep it to 1 drink or 1/2 a drink. It's surprisingly effective for stopping contractions.

very similar scenario happened to me at week 28. nothing would make the contraxns stop but the monitor didn't pick up anything! i was this close to trying the wine thing, too. in the end the mw said it was most likely baby's position that was setting them off (way way way low and heavy). taking it easy and doing lots of random stretches for a few days finally made them go away completely. hope they let up for you for a good long while.

Funny thing, my midwife recommends some alcohol in the last trimester. I don't know if it is everyday, but pretty sure it is.

I was having really hard but not painful contractions... turned out it was an advanced bladder infection (they can be symptom free during pregnancy right up until they start turning on the pre-term-labor thing). Nothing really helped until I took the abx though I did (and do) push fluids, take probiotics and cranberry caps, try to stay relaxed, and have put myself on a very short leash in terms of getting stuff done... contractions start and I just stop what I'm doing. Which is really tough for me!

The big downer is that I've had to drop out of my belly dance classes. I can still dance socially/casually (like at a hafla) or at home, where I can limit the more "active" dance moves and bow out if/when I start to feel my belly tightening but class was getting silly. I mean, we don't have a huge budget these days and paying for dance classes where I spend half the time sitting out watching other people shimmy isn't worth it! But it actually had me in tears yesterday.

I would have cried too.

I asked Kaiser to run a test for a bladder infection. Somehow I have the feeling they didn't. *sigh*

I was positive for leukocytes at my last mw appointment....but I often am and it usually means nothing.

This has been happening to me for months. Docs keep telling me it is nothing but I also can't breath during them. Yay me!

That so stinks!!!!!! I wowud be so sad with out my dance class. Though I totally understand, I had to drop one of mine for the same reasons the Drills class I was doing included way too many moves I just couldn't do without my belly tightening up. I miss shimmies.

That is so great you can still do Haflas and other dancing though! Maybe we need to see more preganancy ATS since there are so many moves we can do there

As for BH I think I feel them sometimes, but as a first timer I am still unsure sometimes what I am feeling. I sometimes wish I felt more sure of what I was feeling but at the same time don't want to tempt fate and get extreme BH or PTL.

I think I might lay down and die with the pregnancy you're having and three kids to take care of on top of it.

Dance class sounds fun. I'd miss it if I was in one. I'm also having many, many BH per day. The midwife says I need to eat more and gain more weight. Heartburn has really turned me off to food, though. Bleh.

I may try more frequent meals and a few ounces of wine.

BTDT... finally I thought maybe a new homeopathic thing I picked up for indigestion might be the problem.... now I use apple sauce for late night idigestion and the BH are practically gone... ofcourse I hydrate better now too

I've been having them with increasing frequency/intensity too...soo uncomfortable. Giving thought to the glass of wine thing...
