6 Month Golden Puppy with a Rash

Thread Starter
I just noticed a rash (looks like pimples) on the stomach of my 6 month old puppy. I know her breed (golden retriever) has issues with skin allergies, so I'm assuming its an allergic reaction to something. I'm taking her to the vet first thing tomorrow, but I don't want her to be itchy all through the night. Does anyone have any suggestions for over the counter creams I could use?

Also - any suggestions for things she could be allergic to? She's been on the same food (blue buffalo puppy) for the past 6 months without a reaction, so I don't think it could be that. We use a (supposedly hypo-allergenic) shampoo called Buddy Wash. I did use it today, but she's never reacted to it before. Other than that, ummmm... she went to the groomer's on thursday, but she's been several times before, and I don't think they've changed their products. She went swimming in the lake today (hence the need for another bath), but does that about once a week (same lake). She's on Advantage for flea control, so I don't think its a flea allergy, although the advantage isn't perfect. Every few weeks or so I'll see a flea on her that somehow didn't get killed. Any ideas on where to start to figure out what this could be?

Dogs can be given Benadryll, which helps with allergies - including itchiness.

As to what it could be - your guess is as good as mine. If nothing has changed in her diet or routine, then it's a guessing game.

Fish oil is miraculous with all skin issues, though. It can help with irritation from allergies as well.
