Vaseline & Cloth Diapers

Thread Starter
Hello, I use vaseline on my baby as opposed to other ointments and cream because I think it works just as well and it's cheap. I did this for 2 years for my first child without problems. This time, the vaseline is building up on the inside of my washing machine ( I never noticed this before) What can I do? How can I get it off? Suggestions?

Never had this problem but I would wash some old towels in Hot/hot cycle with baking soda and vinegar. When rinse cycle comes and if there is still a build up I would add more vinegar. HTH and good luck.

since its petroleum based, i would say turn up your hot water heater higher and then use some dish liquid since that cuts grease too.

be careful if you use dish detergent. remember most of them have sudsing agents so you could end up with a mountain of suds coming out of your washer. I would occassionally get build up similar to what your talking about due to using aquaphor due to DS' excema so I would turn up the water heater and thow in a few towels and wash w/ a bit of clothes detergent a few times. I would fill the washer completely then let it sit a while once the water started to get cooler I run it and then refill again with hot water.

Hot, hot water (add a pot of boiling water if yours doesn't get hot enough) and a squirt of Dawn should do it.
