Haven't read any of the books but I started watching with TNG when it first came out (my family watched) which out me at like 2 years old? I haven't stopped since.

It's hard to pick a favorite because for me they are all just parts of one big universe but I really do like Voyager and TNG.

My daughter and I are new trekkies. We've been watching the original series on cbs.com. My daughter likes old series like the Avengers; if your kid hasn't seen something like that, he/she might think it is a little slow paced.

We are also watching the movies in order. After we watch each movie, I go to galacticawatercooler.com and listen to their podcast about that particular movie (in anticipation of Star Trek 11, they watched each movie and did a podcast about each one. These people are hilarious, and I love them).
