I'd try a ring sling since it's adjustable. We love ours! Perfect for all baby sizes.

There's a lot of options for you actually. If you are liking using your buckle carrier, than you will find other brands just as easy to use, yet about 110% more comfortable, such as the Beco, Ergo, and Pikkolo just to name a few. If you'd like to keep using a two shoulder carrier, but move on to another type of carrier, there are mei tais, such as Kozy and Babyhawk, and also woven wraps. And if you'd like to try a one shoulder carrier, you can go for a ring sling or a pouch, but with heavier babies that will be carried for hours, I prefer two shoulder support.

My mei tai saved me when my DD got too heavy to wear in the pouch or Bjorn. She wasn't as heavy as your DS, but was still a big baby - plus she wanted to be held all the time. My back was killing me. I felt so much better after putting her in the mei tai... especially after I braved the back carry!

I'd say an Ergo, Beco, or Mei Tai (like Babyhawk or Kozy). Any of those will be a whole lot more comfy than your infantino carrier and will last you through toddlerhood. I have a variety of carriers but prefer my Ergo now that my 2 yo is 33ish lbs.

My mei tai killed my back, and that was when DD was still under 10lbs. Now at 5 months & 18lbs she hates facing in so I use my Ergo and a homemade "sling" to carry her on my hip. We've been doing it this way since about 3 1/2 months...we even go for walks with her in the sling.

I'm not a babywearing expert, but my 20 lb 6 month old and I are very happy with our Gypsy Mama Bali Baby Breeze wrap. We're in Arkansas, so heat was a concern for us. It hasn't gotten super hot yet, but we're doing well in high-80's (Fahrenheit) with the woven gauze. I'm working on back holds now, which I think will be even better.

I would also try a MT. They are not as hot as wraps and give great weight distribution. I stll wear my 2 and a half year old in one once in a while so it will definately work for a 3 month old.

I wanted to add that my now 10 month old was 20 pounds at 3 months so I totally feel you on the huge baby thing.

Another MT fan here. No way a MT should kill with a little baby in them.

I carry my 26 lb ds in an ergo all the time and it doesn't hurt my back at all (unless it has been for several hours hiking).

I highly recommend the ergo to everyone i know
