Doula in Orem / Provo Area, UT

Hello all! I'm expecting my 2nd in about four months and am starting the search for a doula in the Provo / Orem area. I'm relatively new to Utah, so I'd like a few recommendations from all of you with great doula experiences. I did not use a doula with my previous delivery, but I know that if I were to "hire" one, I'd need someone pretty tall and sturdy (being 5'9 myself) to share in the supporting role with my hubs. It might also be important to mention that I am currently planning on going with a hospital birth.

Thanks!

I know people have been successful with finding a doula on Craigslist here. I would also ask Veritaserum who hosts the UCAN group and is a birth educator. She's pretty knowledgeable of where to find birth support in the area. There are also Yahoo Groups- Utah Friends of Midwives, perhaps? I'm not on that one, but I've heard a lot of good things about it as for finding doulas. Also, there's an LLL meeting this Wednesday at the Provo Library. I know there will be people there who'll be happy to give recommendations after the meeting.

I didn't use a doula (I had a friend who is training to be a doula, but she's probably too short, though sturdy) so I don't personally have recommendations, sorry! I hope you find someone! Happy birthing vibes to you!

There are a lot of doulas listed on the Utah Doulas website.

There are a ton of doulas listed on websites. As far as personal recommendations go there are a few women in SLC that I LOVE. I bet they would be willing to go to the Provo/Orem area.

and Heather is in Utah County but she's having her own baby soon. She might be able to give you some other good ideas though.

Go to either the Utah Doula Association site or Doulas of North America, that way you can look at their information and their web pages before you make contact and can kind of have a feel for what doula or doulas you might want to interview. There are a lot of doulas in Utah County though.

I'm not currently looking for a doula but one of the websites I really liked was www.birthinghands.com, and I think she does Utah County too.

Good luck!
