Cover recommendations for me?

DS is 2 yrs, 3mo and his pocket dipes are shot (not fitting well, velcro is curling up, dipe is always falling off). We've been relying more and more on sposies and I hate that I'm throwing money down the toilet. I think I'd like to try a less expensive cover and prefold solution just to take me up to the PL stage--something that's sized especially for a 30+ lb toddler, preferably with snaps over velcro. Any suggestions?

Also, since I'm inexperienced with this kind of system, do you need to use pins or snappis with diaper covers?? Thanks!

I use prefolds for my toddler. I used them on my older dd also. They work great for toddlers, I think. I prefer pins over snappis. I notice that when my dd2 wears a diaper that is snappi'd, she gets a little rash from the diaper rubbing around her waist. I guess it makes it a little too tight for her. Pins keep the diaper snug, but not too tight. I use Thirsties covers, which are very roomy. My dd is is chunky-thighed, 24 lbs, 32 inches tall, and still wears a medium with room to grow. BUT, they have velcro. Mine have held up nicely though. I always line-dry them and I think that helps keep them in good condition. I also really like simple nylon pull-on pants. I have Bummis Super Whisper Pants and I love them. They're cheap and they seem very comfy. They never, ever leave red marks of any kind. They are also great to have around for PL'ing. My 3 year old still wears them over her underwear if we're going somewhere where a little leak or accident would be really inconvenient. My 16 month old wears a medium and my 3 year old wears a large. The large is for 30+ lbs, so they should fit your son. I'd have to say they really are my favorite cover, even thought they look kinda old school-ish

If you definitely want snaps on a wrap-style cover, check out the Bummi Super Snap, I've heard good things about it. HTH!

I just checked out the bummis super snap and that seems like the perfect choice. So will I need to use pins with these? It didn't look like it in the illustration on the website... Sorry if the question is redundant, I feel like I'm venturing into a whole new realm of CDs and I want to be prepared

i just trifold my pfs and lay in the wrap most of the time. no need to pin unless trying to contain the poo.
