my nipples only hurt when he is more playing and latches on and off and on and off - or when for some reason he decides to forget how to latch correctly.

people who are using bottles... how much does your LO eat?

I've left bottles 3 times (expressed breasmilk) and she's apparently sucked it down no problem, but 4oz seems to be maybe not enough? I was only away from her for about 2 hours each time too. Sheesh. Does that sound about right for 7 weeks? Or should I be leaving more?

I'm pumping about 3-4 ounces and leaving for my lo when I leave her with my mom while I work, it's usually 2-4 hours. But she's only 8 pounds. I thought about 2 ounces the first day, and she sucked it down way fast, and she sucked down 3 ounces yesterday, so she has 4 today....we'll see if that's enough. I have no idea...and like a moron, I only brought a 2 ounce container today to pump into...

any glass jars floating around that you can wash?

Last time i left it was for 4 hours and i left 6 oz to be on the safe side, but she refused like always .

At the ped's office the flier for the two-month check-up said that formula-fed babies should drink around 36 oz per day, so i would imagine that breast fed babies would be about the same....

I searched for something...the only thing I found was a styrofoam cup or a plastic baggie. I just pumped 2 and figure I'll go to mom's and pump 2 more if she ate all 4. I just want to keep my supply up, so I am trying to pump the same that she eats. But I wasn't getting much out here...I wonder if it's because I'm usually right in the room with her when I pump, and this is the first time I've pumped at work??

Anyone having a beer or anything while BF? I am so craving one, but I haven't had one yet. I went to the BF forum, and read a few, and it seems like it's ok to have one or 2, and you don't even have to pump and dump. Any experience with that?

oh yeah, all the time. I just make sure i don't get buzzed and then feed her. so, if it's a strong beer, i'll either only have a little, or feed her good first so i have some time to process the alcohol from my system. milk alcohol is like blood alcohol, the booze is absorbed over time and you don't have to pump and dump if you only have a little. also, if you pump and dump and still feel buzzed or even drunk, the milk you make will still have alcohol in it. course, i'm no expert, so someone with more experience correct me if i'm wrong.

My dude eats 4-6 ounces around every 2 hours at >12 pounds and 8 weeks tomorrow.

I drink a serving of beer, wine or a mixed drink on occasion and pump right beforehand.
To my knowledge, Z has not been in a drunken stooper.

I've also been slacking on the pumping. It's annoying how easy it is to rely on formula when the kid is so healthy and happy. Now that he naps more and lets me do things, the last thing I want to do is hook up to that stupid machine. :-/

Sorry I'm late! I didn't really read the other posts (sorry!) because I only have a minute.

DH came in last week. It feels SO good to have him home. You ladies were right, it's so much easier having an extra set of hands around. It took DS a few days but he's better about Daddy being around now.

We had our 2 month yesterday. He's 13lbs 9oz and 22.5in long. We didn't do shots and the doc was totally okay with it He does have a bit of a rash...She said it could be related to his food sensitivity (something about his body thinking the proteins are pathogens and trying to attack them) if it doesn't clear up soon I'm going to cut out eggs next.

DS is also bigger than the "average" kid. He's already in his 3-6 month clothes. His 0-3 stuff doesn't fit anymore.

He takes a few long naps during the day. One in the morning, a short one in the afternoon, and a longer one in the evening...and then to bed at night.

DH had his initiation into fatherhood last night 5am DS poops out the side of his diaper. So, I have to flip the light on and wipe the sheets down (it's 5am and I already had to change the sheets yesterday for the SAME reason) Well, I'm changing his diaper and he decides he's not done and poops again...it sprayed out all over me and the sheets. A routine diaper change turned into a long excursion.

I'm also still having nipple pain. They feel a bit raw and I can't remember to always apply the lanolin. Oh, --

More later; gotta attend to the baby!

AFwife, congrats on spending time w/dh! So nice!

Our cat is starting to be interested in Eden. Today she was throwing a fit because my milk was coming in faster than she likes and the cat was following us everywhere. I put her down in the bathroom bouncy chair b/c she loves it and she quieted right down....the cat came over and sniffed her. It was like he was making sure i wasn't killing her or something. He even followed us downstairs.

uhg I've been dizzy and lightheaded - OH I pray it's due to AF coming and not that I'm pregnant again. Please, please, please!! (Dizzy and lightheadedness are my first signs I'm pregnant everyother time)

Bunji, my bff's cat (my bff, aunt lori, lives downstairs), hates kids. He's been cautiously sniffing Zack since day one and today, he walked up to him (Zack was on the floor exercising) and gave him a head butt. Now, this may very well be an attempt to scent the child, but since he proactively touched him, I thought it was interesting.

My cat, Amber, still pretends Zack doesn't exist. :-/

Both cats sniffed the carseat when Zack first came home. He was in it, on the floor. We have photos.

I'm having beer, too. I was having one bottle every night, but I read that having alcohol in breastmilk leads to sleep problems in babies. So, I'm currently abstaining for a few days.

AFWife, great to hear that your DH is back and that things are going well.

Time to see if DS wants to take a real nap. He's sleeping on my chest, but I need to pump and free my vegetables from weed.

She does this almost every night at 8pm... it is her fussy period...

I'm really really tired and not sure why. I'm hoping that it is the heat and mugginess, not being pregnant again... I'm not due for AF for a few weeks if I'm on a 28 day or more cycle.

I had a wisdom tooth pulled this morning (part of it chipped off during my "routine" dental appointment two weeks ago). Now five hours later half my face is still frozen. Very frozen, as in I can't smile and am drooling a little without noticing. I'm huuuungry, too!

Feeling a little sorry for myself after a wakeful night with both kids last night, a tooth extraction this morning and I'm now alone with both kids until 7:30 tonight- so dinner/bath/bedtime is all on me.

I'm not drinking beer because I'm wheat-free right now, but did gin as a challenge quite early in the elimination diet. And passed! I can't eat a ton of foods, but at least can enjoy the occasional G&T

And Nora takes 3-4 oz when she gets a bottle of EBM. She was 9lb11oz a week ago.
Oh, and EBM... is like water for this guy -- he'll take at least 7-8 ounces of that... >.<

I'm going back to work tomorrow. I'm so sad. I know it's not going to be that bad, I'll see my baby at lunch and the time will go by a lot more quickly than I'm imagining, but I feel terrible anyway. My husband is going to be a stay at home dad, so at least Ryan will be with a parent. I just don't want to leave him. The longest I've ever been away from him is about three hours, and it hasn't happened very often. Now everything is going to change and I feel like our special time is coming to an end.
