I love knitting socks, and I love skinny yarn!

I'm working on socks for myself in Knitpicks Imagination handpainted sock yarn, and I'm just loving the process. I've finally caught the sock bug! I knit a pair of Peace Fleece worsted weight socks last month--just got this sudden urge and acted on it, and I think I might be hooked. I love watching the parts of the sock come together--it's like magic! And now I'm loving knitting with fingering weight yarn. I have mild carpal tunnel syndrome, and I'm finding that small (size 1) needles are actually easier on my hand and wrist than larger ones--I'm doing one at a time on Magic Loop.

I'm looking forward to knitting many pairs of socks, and also to using sock yarn for non-sock projects. Right now I'm just doing a simple seed stitch rib pattern--Thuja, from knitty, but in fingering weight. My next pair will be Jaywalker--can't wait. Of course, my stash is quite lacking in sock yarn, sooo....

Anyone else feeling the sock and sock yarn love?

socks are fun! I just don't like size 1 needles. Mine seem to go soooo much faster on 1 1/2s. Must be all in my head though. I have a pair I am knitting in evil stepmother (imagination) on size 1s and they have been half done and taking up my needles for almost a year. I am knitting my second pair of monkeys though and those are flying.

The best part of socks though- so stinking portable! My sock knitting bag fits easily in my purse and I can always get a little bit done in down time!

I knit my DH socks last winter out of worsted- he loved them and consequently wore them out in way too short of time- couldn't imagine knitting him socks in sock yarn though. Way too much of an investment of time I think.

Yes, I love the portability factor!

I'm enjoying the Imagination. It can be splitty, but it's so soft, and I love watching the colors play together. I got two balls each of two colorways from RAvelry users at really great prices.

Me too. Socks or hats are usually my "purse" project. Although they take a while that way. I am on my second sock of my 3rd pair of socks. The first 4 socks I made were just not fun... but after this pair (which actually fit me - toe up) I am already planning my next pair.

It's amazing how easy socks are after you get the hang of it. Once you know the stitch pattern, gauge, and measurements, everything else follows a formula. I just love how everything comes together so smoothly!
