If so, why?

If not, why not?

Thanks!

I'm not blanket opposed to them- would use them in some situations. It would be a situational decision.

Welll yes and no

Yes because these are blood products and there are risks with using those.

They are also full of "stuff" I wouldn't want in my child's body or my own (Solvents and detergents)

but I think if there was a true risk of Hep B or Tetanus or something like that I would consider it. I think it is better to have to perhaps rely on the off chnace you would need one of these shots, than get the "preventaive" series to prevent something you would most likely not get or be exposed to in the first place.

I am not opposed. I would rather risk a TIG/IVIG shot if the situation called for it, than risk the tetanus vax.

EDITED to add: I have personally received at least 6 IVIG infusions while pregnant, to combat an autoimmune condition and allow the pregnancy to continue. So perhaps I feel "safer" about immunoglobulin use than most would.

If both the treatment and prevention included risks, I would choose the treatment, to lessen overall risk.

I'm not opposed. My son received similar shots for RSV prevention for his first 7 months. I think the harmful side affects of catching the illness were much greater than any harmful affects of the shots. I'd much rather get the immunoglobulin shot than to come down with tetanus if it looked as though I had the type of injury that put me at risk. If there is a very high chance of needing to be ventilated with the illness, then I'll take the shot! Avoiding being admitted into a hospital is a priority of mine.
