The confirmed Alamance case comes as Guilford County's Health Dept. is offering free TDAP (Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis) vaccination shots. The vaccine protects children from whooping cough and is mandatory for all rising sixth graders.....It's very important that teenagers and adults get the immunization, the booster especially if there are infants and toddlers in the home because you don't know who you are exposing,
but wait this is great.....

Myers said the child with whooping cough was up to date on his vaccinations, including TDAP.

Not to mention that the shot doesn't stop transmission. So I wouldn't do anything for the infants in the home.

Of course, that last "little" detail was conveniently left out of the t.v. news report.

Since it goes against the general constitution of the vaccine movement to admit a vaccinated child has a certain disease that he has been vaccinated for, it is interesting when these articles pop up. They do pop up quite a bit though, so it makes one wonder how many of these cases really occur.

If this child had been unvaxed (which usually means they conveniently can't find out vax status or has had most shots but not all), that poor family would be a part of a witch hunt and we'd hear all the usual about how non-vaxing parents hate their children and are destroying the planet.

Only the vaccine movement can use the slogan "We admit our product does not work, but that just means we need to give you more of it."

This is funny. My ds (7) who is fully up to date on his pertussis vaccine got whooping cough just a few weeks ago. My dd who is unvaccinated didn't get it. Funny how foolproof those vaccines are.
