picky pants in noro keuryon?

I guess the titles says it all? I want them to stay striped- so I guess I would have to be super brave, add a seam allowance and steek? Geez that freaks me out.... Anyone do this and can show me some inspiration?

Wouldn't they be hideously itchy? I know kureyon gets softer with washing, but soft enough for bare skin?

I did a stripey pair in Soy Wool Stripes, which I thought was soft on the ball, but with much conditioning and lanolizing is now not really soft enough for bare skin. I put tights or legwarmers on underneath. The striping more or less worked though, doing the pattern as written. I made sure to start the second leg at the same place colour-wise as the first leg. Alternately you could do them at a completely different spot so it looks mixed up on purpose.

never thought about the itchy part.... hmmmm.... OK- maybe a soaker with waist and cuffs in a contrasting nice to the skin yarn?

you wouldn't need to steek, you'd still get striping - though the legs will stripe wider than the body. But I agree with a PP - I definitely don't think it's soft enough for next-to-soft-baby-skin use.

There's a very pretty pair in Kauni in my faves on Ravelry- she bought two identical skeins and knitted both legs flat then seamed.
Kureyon, though? REALLY? Don't you like the kid? At least use silk garden...

Ok- I just saw it online- I don't know as if I have ever actually pet it- I just thought is was pretty. Geez. Hmmmm- for the ones I don't like all the time though- what a great idea! Just kidding.

LOL. my purse is made of silk garden and the strap is horribly scratchy and itchy, really doubt it'd be much better to use.

I'm pretty sure that Mandie, of Sheepy Time Knits, made very similar pants. Check out the pair in the middle of the banner of her blog. I think she discussed how she did it on the Wool Soaker Yahoo group, but maybe it's on her blog, too. She is an MDC member, but I'm not sure how often she's here.

Dude, going off at a tangent, why not do a felted sleep sack instead? It does feel nicer once you felt it.

And thank you, Colleen, for giving me the idea

I dunno! I'd try the Kureyon, probs! After a soak in conditioner and a good lanolinizing, they might be snug. Right? It is SO pretty and I'm making a giant blanket in it, so saying this makes me feel better

Are you making the pants to use as a diap cover or just as cute britches? If it's the latter, you may try the Noro Matsuri! It's cotton with just a dab of wool and is dreamy soft but does the sweet kettley striping.

A felted sleep sack would be awesome- but it is sultry Iowa summer! I can't expect the poor kid to roast. I did check out the noro at my lys yesterday- they had a much softer something.... can't remember the name- almost just like noro..... hmmm. 95% wool and 5% silk. That might be a much softer alternative.

A kureyon (whatever the spelling is) blanket- that would be beautiful! I have been contemplating knitting DH an afgan for Christmas (he was jealous of the farm playmat I knit for the kids last year)... Maybe somthing like that would keep my interest!

Oh, it's so fun!! I'm doing the Log Cabin Joesph's Blankie of Many Colors from the Mason Dixon book. It's simple and so pretty and the color changes do keep my interest.

Sorry to threadjack!
