Care Package Ideas????

I'd like to come up with care package ideas to put together for women receiving reproductive health care services at a nearby clinic. These women have to deal with protesters and harassment during this process, and because of Dr. Tiller's murder the number of women seeking care here is going to increase drastically.

Specifically I'd like to come up with care package ideas for women in these situations where a late term abortion is medically required. What a horrific situation to be in, and to be ostracized by people and vilified, followed by protesters as you leave the clinic...that's terrible! So I'd like to put something together for them that says hey...you are loved, you are going to get through this, you will be ok, people care about you and what you are going through.

My idea is that I'll put these together and deliver them to my friend that works at the clinic. Then she can distribute them as needed to the patients. I just feel like I have to do something to help.

Sooooo.....what to put in the care packages? Any ideas on how to get donations when it's such a loaded issue...and our area is NOT choice friendly...

Give your time that is what is needed.

I'm not sure there is any product that is need, as much as plain old support. Calming herbal tea to drink could be a nice gift.

A project just started in NYC is for doulas to be with women who are having abortions. Maybe you could start something in your area with the doulas or other volunteers.

If many of these women are traveling to your area from other locations, what about something to help their stay in your area a little easier? Maybe they're staying in hotels, and would appreciate something to make their room more comfortable? Snacks, tea, nicer bath stuff than hotels usually have? I can only imagine how terrible it must be to go back to the hotel afterwards, maybe something they could use to distract themselves that night?
