Weekly Chat - 6/15 - 6/21

I'm bored. Work is slow this week and I wish I could be somewhere else. I want to hurry up and be on maternity leave. I wish I could start now and still be off until 6 weeks after the baby is born. Actually, I wish I could just be off forever, but that's not possible. Ok, enough whining.

I had a nice relaxing weekend. Made some soap, hung out with hubby, had brunch with my sisters. I moved some things around in our bedroom to make room for a changing area on top of my dresser (which is on Daddy's side of the bed, so it will be handy for him during midnight diaper changes ). Next on the list: tackle the box 'o dog stuff - I need to get rid of a bunch of stuff, or actually start using it.

Joanne's had a sale this weekend, so I went and bought some things I need to finish a few projects for the baby. I got some super cute blanket material and binding so that I can make her a pretty blankie.

We went to see DH's grandma this weekend - she doesn't speak english, but her eyes light up every time she sees my belly. Katie will be her first great-grandchild. I crashed out on her couch while she and DH chatted.

Oh, and I actually slept in until 9 on Saturday and Sunday - lately I've been waking up at my normal time of 7 am on the weekend, which kind of blows.

ilovejeff...i feel totally the same way about work/maternity leave and actually would just like to quit forever...we shall see what the future holds but i know according to dp i need to work.

I had my prenatal appt on friday and did the glucose test. i gained 5lbs this month for a total of 13lbs all of pregnancy, so i am doing well.
then we went to lunch and saw "UP", i cried i think, literally the entire time.

saturday was house cleaning and sunday was totally lazy. i didn't get nearly as much done as i usually do but i think that will be the trend now til after baby. i am for sure slowing down.

saturday i also went to a cd class which was very helpful because cd'ing is so confusing.

today i got the food ordered for the shower and called BCBS for forms to get some money for our childbirth classes (thanks to a mdc ddc tip )

my momma gets into town a week from tomorrow so this week can not go by fast enough.

My hubby is really ticking me off. That is about all that is going on this week. If I think about anything else I will cry. The to do list is long and the hubby is not willing.

This weekend was much better than last for me. Got some good house work and yard work done with lots of help from DH. We are having family stay with us for a week starting Thursday, and all I pretty much have left to do is buy the extra food I'll need.

Ditto on the work sentiments. I wish I could leave today. I don't need to work after LO is born (we could manage on DH's salary), but my mom and DH and I have been talking about it, and we think that for my situation, I should try to work out some sort of part time work to keep my skills up and keep my foot in the door with my job. I'm not excited about trying to negotiate this, but I've got a while to figure that out.

I talked to someone in HR today that gave me a lot of good info about maternity leave stuff. I didn't realize that I was guaranteed 6 weeks of disability pay (and health/dental would continue during this time), even if I told them today that I wasn't planning on coming back after the birth. So I am glad to know that whatever I decide to do I will be covered during that time.

We did a small hike on Sunday morning in the mountains. The wildflowers are just starting to bloom. It was perfect. DH and I talked about how fun it will be next year to take LO with us.

As for us, we saw our house this weekend - they had finished priming and were going to start the colors today - then its flooring and the kitchen was to be ordered. The builder wants it done for the first week of July, moved 2nd week and then one month on our end to finish the plumbing/heating etc.

The basement was supposed to start today - but we drove out and no one was there - not sure what's up with that, so I'll call tomorrow am.

Babies are very quiet yesterday/today but its almost 30degrees here, so I'm not really surprised. I go for my u/s on Friday to be reassured that they are growing evenly..........they ARE, right???????????????????

I'm here...I figure I've been pouring out enough in my responses to all the other threads, so I'll just say HI here!

My spouse left this morning and won't be back until Thursday. He's giving a presentation at an academic conference and I'm very excited for him. But it's just me and the guinea pigs for most of the week.

Naturally, the moment he leaves, things start going to pieces around here! One of the guinea pigs has dark colored pee that might be bloody-- not good for a guinea pig! There are three of them and they all live in the same biiiiiig enclosure, so it's hard to tell who is leaving what mess behind, so I don't even know which little guy to start fussing over. I weighed them all (first sign of a sick piggy is weight loss!) and they've all gone UP in weight so ugh, really no hints. The next step is to separate them into three little compartments and see who does what.

Meanwhile, I think that I've got another UTI, despite being on a continue-til-you-give-birth course of a very low dose of amoxicillin after my kidney infection adventures last month. I have a low fever, my bladder feels tender and kind of dull-achey, and I'm peeing even MORE than usual. Not too concerned about it, just annoyed that it happens NOW. If it did turn into another kidney infection, I'd have to take the bus into town to go to the hospital and check myself in and stuff and... just a hassle. I am drinking tons and tons of water and the cranberry juice I coincidentally bought a couple days ago and hopefully my bladder will be feeling great again soon.

But, y'know, aside from these little medical dramas unfolding in my life, I feel great and am having a good week so far. I'm taking advantage of my guy's absence to eat a ton of green beans, which he totally hates, and to watch a movie I've had from Netflix for a while that he's not interested in. This is fun at least!

nothing exciting here....going to my parents house for the weekend - we're both excited cause that means we get to sleep in AND we get to have a date AND we get to turn everything off so it helps our electricity bill AND they feed us for the weekend. Plus, they get to see the kids - bc let's face it, it's not really US they miss

dh has been taking Maddie to softball camp with him all week - she's been having a blast, and it helps to keep her from getting so bored (already - 1st week of summer break!)

And I have my two little boy clients back - and the little guy is crawling now, so that is an adventure! Had to lock him up in the exersaucer while I double vacuumed the floor - they sure do find EVERYTHING at this age, but at least I have motivation to keep my floors spotless until the baby comes now

I really need to go my diabetes screen this week, but I keep forgetting! I have an appt. with my ob next week and I know they'll be angry at me if I don't get it done by then LOL. I'm such a procrastinator!

Otherwise, nada. Enjoyed our weekend away - the weather was PERFECT, and it finally 'feels' like summer. (despite the crummy weather we've had since then!)

I've been a little MIA around here. . .I graduated with my M.A. a week ago and have had family house-guests ever since. Now its finally quiet. . .ahhhh, its really nice.

Although its kinda weird too and I am officially a SAHM now. Haven't decided when I'll go back to my school/career pursuits. Someday I'm sure, but I am blessed to have no hurry (financially) to do this. But I am afraid of my brain going to mush without the stimulation of school and adult-time.

But right now I am concentrating on the huge baby to-do list. I haven't bought nearly anything for this LO! Need to get a co-sleeper, carseat, stroller, birth tub, HB supplies. . .the list goes on. . .

I also went to the library and got a huge stack of birth/baby books, which have alternately been making me cry (birth stories) or a bit anxious (labor, postpartum, eek!). Three months left, I can't decide if that sounds too short or too long! Somedays I just want to hold my baby so badly!

He's moving a lot these days after a bit of a scare around 24 weeks when he was really quiet for a while. My belly is officially non-ignorable now. For the first time someone made me take their seat on the train. . .its odd to be pregnant enough that everyone notices and treats you differently. Not a bad thing, but it still startles me.

Hi ladies! I am also counting the days until my maternity leave starts. There were about two weeks in there where I absolutely could not stand my boss. Things are better now but I still dream of three months with my little man!

I had my glucose screen and everything looks fine there. I have low iron though which helps explain why I've been so tired. My appt went really well though. I've been going to my OB for three years now and when I got pregnant I just stuck with him. Then I started reading and realized that I wanted a low intervention, natural hospital birth. I was kind of freaking out from all the horror stories I've heard, but I really like my OB and get a good vibe from him.

Anyway, I asked my OB a few "innocent" questions and I feel really good about sticking with him. We are on the same page and I couldn't be happier! I asked him when he decides to do inductions. He then went on to say that he likes to just let things happen naturally but they don't go much past 42 weeks. Well then I asked him what due date we're going with and he didn't actually tell me a date! He just said that if it's October 12 and I'm still pregnant, then we've got to do something. SWEET! I really feel like he's on my side and he won't advise me to do anything unless it is absolutely necessary. I'm going to tour the birth center next month, and I'm hoping that things go as well over there!

wow - that sounds like you lucked out there! Funny, I just picked my ob by the hospital I want to deliver at, and a rec. by a friend....and I'm getting the feeling that I'm going to have to speak up if things don't go exactly like I think they will He's an older gentleman, at least my parents' age, maybe older (young 60s maybe?) and I asked him about if he'd be willing to 'write me a note' so that IF I decide I want an epidural, the hospital will give it to me right away, instead of waiting for me to 'make change' AT the hospital (since I go from 4 to 10 in less than an hour)....his response? Oh, at this hospital, they'll give you an epidural anytime you want it - I know a lot of people say that an epidural too soon can stall out birth and cause additional interventions - but don't believe them, there's no truth at ALL to that! () I chose not to say anything, since I'm just happy he'll give it to me if I want, but MAN! He obviously isn't interested in the 'new' information, yk?
