I have read that b-complex can be good for depression. I bought some and now am wondering if its okay to take them with my med celexa?

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

I am not a doctor and don't know about Celexa, but I do know that in many of the clinical trials in which researchers are studying the effectiveness of specific nutrients (like B vitamins and depression), many if not all of the participants are on an antidepressant at the time.

I'm on Prozac and my psychiatrist also told me to take folic acid, which is found in B complex supplements. He actually insisted I take it. He told me when he was in school they would have their patients take folic acid and it really helped them with there depression. He wants me to be on as low a dose of anti-depressants as possible, that's why he wants me to take the folic acid along with the Prozac. I'm currently taking a liquid form that is completely bioavailable to my body, so none of it is wasted. It seems to be helping.

vitamin B heals up muscle tear in the stressful areas like the neck. And also aids in red blood cell formation. Thus making oxygen flow better and making you feel more alive! However, some OTC meds (especially herbal and vitamin supplements) can actually have negative effects when added to certain prescriptions.
So please do consult your doctor first.

My psychiatrist actually told me to be on 1 gram of folic acid when I was on Prozac during my pregnancy with ds. She told me the SSRIs tend to deplete it (or maybe block its absorption). It's generally a good idea to take a b-complex with any single b vitamin, as they tend to work together, and because too much of one can deplete others (folic acid and B12 work this way, as do B1 and B6, I think). Your pharmacist may know also.
