OK ... so my breasts are gigantic. I can't remember what size I was during the first few months of nursing. I was a 34dd after my last pregnancy after 4.5 years of nursing ... lost some weight went back to my pre pregnancy 34d (not quite as perky) breasts. I am now 26 weeks pregnant and spilling out of my 34dd's and am really concerned with size when my milk comes in. I remember them being HUGE as in bigger than DD's head last time. I am wondering if your body remembers how to nurse and perhaps they won't get so big when the milk comes in???? Or is it the same old hugeness all over again?

However, if I remember correctly, they "settled down" a bit sooner, I didn't have as much leakage or engorgement the second time, even though he was a terrible nurser. I also pumped a lot more with my second son, with my first I didn't start pumping until a few weeks before going back to work, the second time I started pumping right away to build a HUGE freezer stash. So that probably effected things.

we called mine the "Jugs 'O Doom" as they were bigger than either kids' head for most of the first 6 months.
I had a huge supply (donated to the milk bank, built up a huge freezer stash), and leaked like a sieve for most of the first year. I think I've gotten bigger each time around (and I don't need the help to start with).

Hahaha; good thread. Even my kids are fascinated by my ginormous BOOBS.
I'm wearing (and falling out of) 36D bras right now, after baby they'll quickly go to 32DD, then maybe 32D after a year of nursing.
Even though that all sounds big, my boobs didn't stay 'big' nearly as long with my second versus my first and they get pretty managable faster the second time around.
Pregnancy boobs are just huge, I have come to accept.
Can't wait to drop this kid and start shrinking....
I think you'll need one size up right now (I know I do) and then fall back to your 'normal' size by 6-8 weeks pp, depending on how your milk comes in. It was pretty quick for me the second time around, even though I had other weight to lose.

This just makes me nervous about what's to come. I was wearing 32Fs (though we would take the band in to closer to a 30) before the pregnancy. They have gotten huge, I just wear them looser on the band and loosened the straps to stop spillage. But I know I'm just stretching my $70 bras out and rendering them useless.
I really want to buy more bras, but I'm nervous that my boobs are going to explode when my milk comes in!
Ahhhhhh... at least us big booby gals can unite

for a larger cup size. Will I find DD/E cups in a 34 (I think 36 is too big) at Macy's or another dept store?!I hate spending the $$ also, but my floppy-loved-on boobs need all the molding and support they can get!!

You need a Goddess bra for when your milk comes in. My gf gave me one that was too tight band wise for her. It's not pretty, but I love it the first month/six weeks. DO NOT wait until baby is born to find a nursing bra. I did that the first time around- a mistake, I assure you.

Nordstroms carries as small at 32 band and as big as F (DDD) cups in store. I don't think they have larger cup sizes in store, and they don't carry 30 bands in store. But you can buy other sizes on their site online and return in store. Otherwise I buy online at barenecessities.com . figleaves.com is another online site, but I've never actually purchased from there.
I love (love love love love) love Chantelle bras. My favorite is the senso, they just make me look and feel good

Oh and nordstroms stores have fit specialists there. They'll help you find the perfect fit and perfect bra for yourself

Thank you!! Do they have kid handlers too?! I took my kids with me to the maternity dept. at Bloomingdales and they were AWFUL!!! Nordies is about 1.5hours away from me; maybe I'll see if Macy's (not my fave store, but what we have in town) has to offer.

I would stay away from Victoria's Secret though.
Oh and I think Macy's carries Le Mystere which are also pretty good (but in my opinion not nearly as comfortable at Chantelle). In my experience the more common brands, like Wacoal and Maidenform etc are not true to size and run quite small.

i'm a first timer
but i went from 34 C to 36 D so far, which isn't really that much but i am small, i am afraid of what will happen in this last trimester! |
For the bands, a trick a saleslady told me was to not go buying the larger band sizes, just wear them on the last hook or buy the hook expanders, because right after birth your ribcage shrinks back down rather quickly, and you'll really need the support when your milk comes in, so you don't want your bras to be loose in the bands.
