Help me name my new dog

Okay, I may be jinxing myself here b/c I haven't picked her up yet (or seen her in person) but I'm pretty sure she is The One. I'm travelling 3 hrs to pick her up this Friday. She is about a year old, a female mutt that seems to have cattle dog/Aussie shephard in her somewhere. She has the brownish/blackish ears and saddle of a shepherd and the rest of her is white with that sort of faint spotted/cloudy look that Aussie dogs have. What's really cool is that the spots/clouds are bicolour - some are grey and some are a lovely beige.

My first choice for a name is Cedar, but this dog has such a soft look to her that I'm thinking a softer sounding name would be suitable. So far I've come up with:

Luna
Nala
Nyah
Rain

Any other ideas?

I'm partial to Nyah, but thats my cat's name. :} Some suggestions:

Indie
Sophie
Kiva
Maia

I like Rain, or Raina (which means queen in Spanish, just spelled differently). I like Luna except my parent's dog is named that and I hate that dog.

I want to see a picture of her!!

It's so hard to name a pet! Hubby and I always take forever and have a million names suggested before we pick one. Luckily our dog came with a name, not that I love it (I don't) but at least it saves me the trouble of thinking of one!

Here's a fun site of Aussie dog names, since that is her breed: http://www.dog-paw-print.com/australian-dog-names.html You might pick one of those?

Matilda -- an aussie name for an aussie dog.

I actually really like Cedar. I think it's plenty gentle and feminine.

I like Rain.

And, not that it matters at all, but I am pretty sure aussies are an american breed

I vote for Cedar.

You can see where I got "Rain" from.

Oh she totally looks like a Rain or a Cedar. She's beautiful!

Rain fits her really well. Plus the ad says that she comes when called, so she already comes to "Rain". What a love! Enjoy your new puppy

number, that's what I was thinking...she is gorgeous, isn't she? I'm getting her in 3 days!!!!

I think I'll likely stick with Rain, but may try on Cedar....sometimes the dogs kind of let you know their name in way, don't you think?

"Excellent arborist"? Does that mean that she jumps over tall fences?

Yeah, I agree, its tough to name a living being before meeting it. She does look like a Cedar or a Rain. Rain seems to fit a more mellow personality to me & Cedar has a bit more *spice* for a more energetic dog.

You could always name her both names... my dog has about five names (1 true name, the rest are nicknames) that he gets called depending on the situation, lol. All five at once if he's (knowingly) done something naughty!!

either that or she eats the hedges!
So, did you get her yet? Is she a Rain or a Cedar?

She looks *just* like my cousin's Australian cattle dog. His girl is named Matey ('mate' = best friend).

I think you should stay with Rain, since she answers to it. My dog is part Aussie cattle (but so are most dogs from shelters in Australia) and they're a fantastic breed. Crazy, but fun!

I love Rain or Cedar - agree w/pp maybe once you meet her it will be an easier choice. She is adorable - I love the airplane ears!
Curious about the "arborist" comment too!
