Poopy Dipes/Wipes

Thread Starter
LO is going to be here soon and I am thinking more practically about the logistics of actually cleaning the diapers. So while she's EBF I have heard that the diapers are pretty slimy. Do you rinse them or anything before throwing them in the wash? Or just throw the poop and all into the washing machine? Is there any special care needed for the washer to keep it from getting clogged or ruined? TIA!

Breast milk poo is water soluble so no special care is needed, just throw the diapers and wipes in the wash!! Once they start eating solids a lot of people (including me) use a sprayer to get the poop off or dunk the diapers in the toilet. I do a vinegar or bleach rinse in my washer every couple weeks to keep it clean but I would do that whether I was washing diapers or not.

With newborn poop you just throw it in the washer. The do a cold rinise. Hot wash and 2 rinses. Then dry. Or depending on the brand follow the manufacture washing instructions. When your baby is older if you like you can purchase a diaper sprayer and spray them off before washing. Also put diapers in a dry pail when dirty.
