will my dipes fit under little newborn onesies?

I am going through all my newborn clothes getting ready for Baby. (in WEEKS!) and I have LOTS of little 0-3 month onesies. (all of my Baby clothes were gifts and/or hand-me-downs)

They looks SO tiny! I was wondering if my cloth diapers will even fit under those? (I have prefolds and Thirtsties covers) If not, can I just cut off the bottom and use them as little tee-shirts. (they're so cute! I would hate to not use them) Or should I just use the bigger sizes? I mean, how bulky, really, are cloth dipes on new babies?

(ps. I am not expecting a tiny Babe, The smallest of my siblings was 8 and a half and I was 9 lbs. My sisters kids were both nearly 9 and 9+ also.)

youll probably be able to use them for a bit, but at 10 weeks my baby is no long able to fit in 0-3 month onesies. i just got her a bunch of plain white tees from dharma trading co and she lives in those and a diaper, lol. id just put them on the babe as long as they will fit, and when they get too snug with the diaper cut them off and sew them up (if you have a machine or have the patience to do it by hand).

My LO was only 6 lb 5 oz when born, but he gained about a pound a week for the first several weeks. We were NEVER able to use the newborn (NB size) onesies, and the Gerber 0-3 onesies never fit, either. They weren't long enough to fit around the crotch & snap, even if they were kind of big on his upper body. We do have a few random onesies that fit him - the length seems to vary by brand. The only brand name I can give you, that has reliably been long enough to fit around a CD, is Just One Year (this is a brand that Carter's makes for Target).

If you have NB size onesies (smaller than 0-3), I would return them if you can. Partially because they're too small for CD, but also because you won't want to use them at all in the first couple of weeks while the umbilical cord is drying up and the belly button is healing (it needs air, and a onesie would rub the stump). If you're expecting an 8-9 pounder the NB size probably wouldn't fit anyway.

Note: I'm using prefolds and Thirsties covers, also. We have a kind of short and chunky baby. If you have a long baby the onesie situation may be even more difficult with CD.

DS was a 9lb-er and he fit the newborn onesies for about a month. (Maybe - it's been awhile. ) They fit over infant prefolds and BSWW with almost no trouble.

It all depends on their torso length... DS is like me - all legs!
