Insomnia

Am I the only one up half the night? I just can't sleep. DH is doing relaxation exercises with me right before bed which is soo nice , but still, we turn out the lights and I lie there wide awake for hours. Eventually I give up and get up for a bit. It's 2am here and I'm still awake.

In part it's because I'm getting up to pee so much. In part it's heartburn, but honestly that's not so bad. I'm getting leg and foot cramps, and some contractions, but really none of those are that bad either. I'm running through to do lists and worrying, but honestly I think that's because I'm up, not why I'm up. I'm really not that miserably uncomfortable at night (yet). I'm just AWAKE :

I have had quite a few of those nights and I wish I had some perfect advice for you

One relaxation that helps me sometimes is to start with my feet wiggle them lightly telling myself they are falling asleep/relaxing, I wiggle my ankles next, then my legs, knees, etc. Sometimes this puts me to sleep before I get to my face and head, other times it at least gets me to stop focusing on the stress and lists to let me fall asleep.

Hot milk or Chamomille tea might also help (though they don't work for me )

I am in the same boat! It is 4:30 and I am awake, I have been since about 3:00. I actually get up and get things done or turn on the tv or computer to help me get sleepy. I figure it is my body preparing for a newborn. I just tend to take more naps during the day.

I've tried taking Hyland's Calms Forte (cleared as ok by my midwife) and I think it helps some. I need to be taking it every night about an hour before bed to see if I can get out of this routine.

Me too And I wake up hungry but resist the urge to go eat something because I want to try to fall asleep again. Grrr.

If you are having a hard time sleeping more because you are worrying about all the things you have to do, I have always heard that if you put a notepad by your bed and write down those things as you think of them, it can help. I've never personally tried it, but I know of others that do it. I've been going to bed early because I have RLS and for some reason stretching out in bed is the only place that makes it go away.
I hope this is just a little phase for you, and you will be back to sleeping in no time. I kind of went through this about a month and half ago.

Yeah, I'm really tired, but just can't fall asleep. Then as I lay there I think of all sorts of stuff that does not help me fall asleep.
I don't have any new ideas of what to do, but I'm right there with you. (((HUGS)))

It depends on the night. I consider myself lucky on the nights when I just wake up every 1-2 hours and go back to sleep. Other nights I either wake up and just can't go back to sleep, DH is snoring, I have acid reflux, I'm anxiety ridden, my legs are cramping, the dogs are restless, or a combo of a few of these. I don't tell people about my insomnia so much anymore because they make that comment that it is nature getting me ready for the baby, and that really annoys me.

I have no advice. I get insomnia, too. Sometimes I do light, boring chores like laundry and that makes me tired.

My sleep patterns have been all over the place lately. Most of the time I get around 6-7 hours of sleep with a lot of waking up to pee, roll over, take some Tums, etc. Sometimes I'm lucky if it's 3-4 hours. Rarely I get more than 8. I used to nap a lot in the pm hours, but my midwife put me on extra Vitamin B and now I have so much extra energy that I feel like a hummingbird. I see this as nature's way of getting me ready to be up at odd hours with a newborn.

It is both nice and sucky to see so many of us have the same problem I have to say I think I need to repull this oil out for my self I have not tried it during pregnancy, but using it for aromatherapy in the past has helped a lot
