May seem frivolous, but WOHM moms, what do you do with your hair every day?! - Page 2

I'd also go with the opinion of cutting it a little. I tell my stylist to cut it so I don't have to style it. I style mine while I'm blowdrying it with a flat brush (trick my stylist gave me). I get my hair cut much more often than I used to, as it gets unruly as it grows out of the style. I have cut my hair to just above shoulder length and it is much faster to dry.
I've gone for the pixie cut before and I really liked it. Easiest hairstyle to ever take care of. Got it a little wet, messed it about and done. But it was a pain to be getting hair cuts every four weeks or so, which is what I had to do because it looked pretty bad after that. Or I'd attack it with scissors myself.

It's not trivial... professional men get judged by "jib" of their tie/pants-zipper (and other silly stuff), professional women are judged by their hair (and other silly stuff).

Lots of good advice. For MY hair-type I like the "good cut" and "scrunchy-bun or short hair with nice earrings" ideas.

I can commiserate and jump in with a warning. I have thin, sort of straight, sort of frizzy hair that is difficult at its best and really yucky post partum. I too find myself going crazy in the morning trying to deal with hair while also getting 2 kids out the door. A couple of months ago, I asked my hairstylist to cut it much shorter than usual, and she gave me a bob which was adorable when I left her shop. But it turns out that short hair is much, much harder for me to deal with in the morning, and it has made my routine longer. I can't get away without blowdrying and flat-ironing, and even then I feel like I look less professional because I usually don't get it "just right." I am anxiously waiting for it to get back to shoulder length so I can pull it back on bad hair days.

I have never had a job in which I had to pay two seconds of attention to my looks until now. The thing that has helped me is finding a stylist I like and I've stuck with her. I like that if she's not sure, she asks a colleague for advice. I try different products or cocktails of products to see what's working best. We talk and talk about mostly what I *don't* want. It's working. It's amazing but it's working. I have fairly finely textured very curly hair and a lot of it. Very difficult to make professional looking, especially when at heart, I'm such a ponytail kind of person.

I bun it. + pretty earrings and a necklace.

I have shortish blond, fine, straigt hair. I have to wash it everyday or it looks greasy (I've tried cutting back, doesn't work). I get up a half-hour before DS, shower, wash hair, dress, make up and then let it air dry for awhile. It only takes about 5 min. to blowdry and I do that just before I leave with DS in the bathroom, throwing blocks in the tub or shaking the Advil bottle . Although our hair is totally different, I recommend short. Aren't there cool products for curly hair to give it that wavy look instead of frizzy? I definitely don't know but a good product goes as long a way as a good cut.

I tried styling it the night before, and it worked just ok...good enough for mommy duty but not for work. So, pixie, here I come.

I do the Bun most days, or a "polished" pony tail. Sometimes I gather it half way with a clip or do a quick french twist that is secured with a clip (plain black bar style).

I found my short hair to be more work than it the long to make look good.... except for my pixie cut! I loved it.

My hair is curly and I've embraced the curls via CurlyGirl website. I'm happy with it all now.

I love curlygirl! Although really I'm more of a "wavy girl".

Ugg... I hate the hair issue. I have wavy, thick hair that has turned partly curly, partly wavy since the birth of DS. It's REALLY curly in the back, and straight-ish in the front. So something has to be done!! Most days I scrunch up the curls, twist it up and jab a hair stick through it all. I have a unique collection of hair stick type things. I can do a very professional looking twist with all the ends tucked in, side part, with wet hair in just a minute or so. Or, if I'm just in my very business casual (jeans by Thursday) office, I'll just twist it up and leave the ends out, and curly. Once or twice a week I'll skip a morning shower and straighten my hair. It behaves better when I straighten it on day #2, not clean and fresh out of the shower. I sub my shower time for straightening time.

I have thick curly hair, and most I do the curly girl thing, pulling the front half back with (a lot) of pins on the non-washing day. Right now it's between my chin and shoulder, which is the no-mans lands for me for looking professional. If time is the biggest factor, I'd say get your hair long enough to be able to pull it back in a twist, or go for the pixie.

I've had the super short cut, and I LOVED it. Particularly for the transformation from longer to short, find someone really really good. Then expect a haircut every 4-6 weeks, which is the downside. But, man, it's amazing to be able to wash, throw some product in, and be out the door. (Or just spritz w/ water.) I also loved not having wet hair all the time.

Oh, and I found that earrings and mascara became a lot more important to looking pulled-together when the hair was really short.

When I had hair I wore a bun. They look nice with pearls.

This is me also
I wash it every other day, let it air dry and brush it. On the second day I have a ponytail. My hair is fine and little below the shoulders.

I am an engineer so it is ok for work, but I would like to do something else sometime. However I have 2 small kids and work full time, so I'll stick with my current routine for a while.

I don't think it's frivolous because people judge others with how they look....just the way it is.

I got my hair cut short and it's really cute and stylish and EASY! I have it cut in short layers in the back and then it falls down longer in the front. I wash and blow dry at night so in the morning all I need to do is flat iron it and rub some texture cream through it real quick. Even if I don't flat iron it (my hair is kinda wavy) it still looks cute

It looks kinda like this (but my hair is not that thin or straight and mine is actually cut shorter at that neckline so it has that really cool v-line in the back):

I'm in the army and wear my hair in a bun. I just slick it back into a ponytail and twist it around on itself while it is still wet. I'd love to get it cut and styled, then think "what's the point?" since I'd just have to wear it up.

I have thick curly hair that can get frizzy and loves to "fly away". I have a strong sensory aversion to product, but do use it sometimes.

When I wash my hair, I blow dry my bangs straight (flat iron damages too much, makes it look too different from the rest of my hair), with or without a little styling lotion. Then I use a diffuser to dry the long part to keep the curl, and either put it in a ponytail, or take a small part of my hair near my ears, twist it, and put it back with a barrette. It looks a little hippie-ish, but I teach elementary, so I don't have to be totally in fashion. I think it's cute, and doesn't look frumpy.

I was going to suggest a short haircut. Wash and wear can be quite sexy with the right cut to flatter your face!

Ponytail or a bun, but then again, I'm a teacher, so it's not as dressy of an environment.

From one frizz-head to another: how frizzy is it? Is it better if you sleep on it? I find that my hair is smoother on days that I don't wash my hair. If this works, can you wash it the night before?

I'm a librarian so I just can't wear a bun on principal! lol

Seriously though, I also have a sort cut because it is just wash and go. My hair is thick so I actually get too much volume if I blow dry. For frizz I use Neutrogena Triple Moisture® Healing Shine Serum I can't vouche for its "naturalness" but it works wonders. Just put it in wet and go.

Also I have a 50 minute comute so I have time to get to work without wet hair.

Bottom line - in your place, I'd get a really good haircut, pixie or otherwise, and let it air dry. If you don't want to have to mess with product, make sure you don't let the stylist use it.
:

I call mine "goop and go" -- it is very short, but with some feminine fullness at the top and back and wisps around my ears. I wash daily, goop and style and go -- under a minute. Haven't used a blow dryer in years except to defrost the freezer at my office this past week. Wouldn't have it any other way.

And like others I accessorize: pins, scarves, nice earrings. Makes a diff.
