U.S. Kids "Priority" For Swine Flu Shots

Schoolchildren may be first in line for swine flu vaccine this fall - and might even be able to get the shot right at school.

"If you think about vaccinating kids, schools are the logical place," Sebelius told The Associated Press today.

I think it's funny that they have admitted this "swine flu" seems to be targeting more middle aged people rather than the very young or very old...you would think then that us middle aged folks would be priorities

We're harder to fear-monger.

It's easier to push it on worried parents who are told their child WILL DIE without the vaccine. Coupled with making it easy on parents by giving it at schools (so there's no need for a day off of work and an insurance copay for a doctor's visit), it's a marketing no-brainer to be able to sell millions of vaccines.

I just hope that parents will realize that there is no way that this vaccine would have been adequately tested for safety or efficacy. That takes time as well as an appropriate control group, everyone should be keeping an eye out for what kind of control group is used, and what the selection criteria are for their "pilot" vaccine trials, before deciding to have their children vaccinated for the swine flu.

The Public Schools here already do get the regular flu shot. So it will be very easy for them to include that one as well :

I held dd out the day they did them for 2 reasons 1) because I was afraid they would screw up and give it to her any way 2)they also did the live flu mist.
