Revamping a bicycle

I got a bicycle for my soon to be 4 year old on Freecycle. It's a good bike but it could look better. It's got some rusty spots (which I figure I better hit with some rustoleom paint) but I'd like for it to look, well, a little cooler. He has a red, "Cars" helmet so it might be nice to coordinate the two. Any ideas? Thanks.

I would go to a bike shop and see what they have. DD was very impressed with the addition of a bell to her bike and we have since bought them as birthday presents for other little ones. They always seem to be a hit.

I was going to suggest taking it to a bike shop as well. We did that with my bike that I got at a thrift store in good condition, but ugly as hell and needing some minor repairs. Even if they can't fix it up they can probably recommend someone who could.

Thanks!! I'm going to take you all up on that suggestion and take it into a bike shop today.
