So, yeah... I still haven't packed a bag and I figure I should really get on that!! So far I know I need...

- clothes for me
- clothes for DH
- clothes for baby
- snacks
- toiletries
- pillow

What else do I need? I should totally know this but.. apparently not

Since I am at the clinic right now...I realize I forgot a dirty clothes bag. We've already had a huge meconium blow out. Don't forget your camera. I forgot to bring a pen and since I am supposed to be tracking her diapers/feeds on the clinics paper I had to go and track one down. Not sure what your hospital provides but I am glad I brought a towel or two extra...dealing with the showering in order to pee situation at the moment so I am glad I brought an old towel that I don't care about to towel off afterwards. Looking around the room I can't think of much more that doesn't fall into the categories you've already listed.

this is what i think i'd add:

chapstick
music if you might want it
a pic of your ds
carseat
socks for you during the birth that you don't mind if they get icky
any natural remedies/herbs you want on hand
camera/video camera
your own water bottle if you have one

We brought: camera, extra batteries and memory cards, cell phones, a few outfits for everyone (bodily fluids everywhere - LOL), pillows, magazines, journal and pen, moisturizer or body lotion, lip balm, glasses & contact sol and case if applicable, tooth brushes and paste, list of numbers you want to call, car seat, blanket for baby. I think that was it. Of course DD did NOT fit into her coming home outfit, she still doesn't fit into it!

If you are staying at the hospital, I'd also pack a movie or 2.. it can get boring laying there all day long with nothing on TV.

For clothes for baby.. bring something in newborn size and something in 0-3 months.. you never know how big or small they are going to be.

I also packed my robe, and an easy nursing tank. Oh.. and a swim suit for DH.

Camera and all its paraphelia-- batteries, memory cards, etc.

Cell phone, phone charger, any phone numbers that aren't already in the phone.

Chapstick/ lip balm, and throat drops. (My throat hurt like heck the first two days after the birth, because of all the screaming. It was like the day after a really great rock concert, except without the ringing in the ears.)

Something to DO, if you aren't a TV person. There's more down-time in the hospital than I expected.

Snacks are important, bring lots. Don't underestimate how hungry you'll be, and don't rely on the hospital!

Thanks guys!! I will definitely add movies to the list... we have all ours in CD cases so that should be pretty easy to just throw in. I also added the camera and charger. The infant carseat is already in the car so there is no forgetting that!! I have a coming home outfit in newborn and one in small then I will probably bring a few onesies like I did with DS. I didn't think about a blanket... it hasn't gotten below 70 degrees here in WEEKS!! Do you think I will still need one?

I'd bring a blanket just in case. Today when we brought Sam home it was cool enough to need something over him, but the day we went into the hospital it was hotter than, well you know!

Good to know I will bring a light blanket. We live all of 5 minutes from the hospital so as long as I have everything I will need PRE baby it shouldn't be a huge deal to send hubby home for something I forgot or have my mom bring stuff!

That's actually awesome! We live about 20 minutes and once DH got to the hospital with the kiddos he didn't want to run home for things (which is understandable!) so I ended up without some things I wanted!

don't forget your own body wash/soap. hospital stuff is icky. of course, we were caught by surprise with our whirlwind 2 month early surprise....

found out that there are movies on demand in the hosp. wish i had known when i was PP- i didn't find that out until we were rooming in to take the baby home.
