I agree

It's just sick how they are rushing to create something that they have no possible way of knowing the side effects/adverse reactions and are going to first be sticking into those who aren't even able to make an informed decision on the matter.

Poor kids...

I don't like they are using our schools for this on two levels. First it makes it more difficult to enforce no vax. I know they need a permission slip but according to stories I've heard some school find a way to give kids this anyway. Second I don't think schools should have anything to do with medical care. They are there for education.

Yes and yes.

I told my DD to run away if anyone at school with shots (well, I told her to run straight to the head of school--I trust the school). I feel like it's the kids, themselves, who could become confused and line up just because everyone is. Anyway, I explained to her that if we're doing any shots, it would never be at school, but at the doctor's office, and with me there, too.

how scary...there is no way they have had time to propery test the vaccine...for safety or effectiveness.

Very scary indeed.

Thankfully my children are not currently nor will ever be in school...I'll have to warn my mom though, she's anti-new untested vax

Ha! I told my DS the same thing. I really fear the 'pandemic' edge the vaccinators will have....I went even further and told him if there were any rumors going around that the vaccinations were going to be given to everyone regardless he should run into the woods and hide until he felt it safe and then call me to pick him up! He's my oldest and old enough to manage this...its my autistic son I worry about most. Though - I would of course keep them both home during any 'vaccination school-clinic' days (if they come to pass!) I would do this for seasonal flu clinics too, though our school has never done those.
After my gestapo experience with the dept of ed in NYC, I totally fear the worst case scenario for 'pandemic school-clinics'!

NOW they worry about their safety??? Why not any of the other ones?

Those government-led studies will check if the vaccine seems to work, if one dose or two will be needed, and most important if it's safe. The last mass vaccination against a different swine flu, in the U.S. in 1976, was marred by reports of a paralyzing side effect — for a feared outbreak that never happened.

So the Food and Drug Administration will closely track vaccine safety, Sebelius said.
We know how that will go, don't we?? "It's perfectly safe", "Studies show that no side effects were reported", etc. etc., etc.....

This makes no sense to me whatsoever. There are still cases of swine flu popping up all over and it's become a complete non-issue! People get a bit sick for a few days, recover and life goes on. This isn't an illness with an atrocious kill rate (other than Mexico, and I'm not convinced there wasn't something else going on there, it doesn't add up). From all reports we've heard (agan excluding what happened in MX), this is milder than the regular seasonal flu.

ummm, i dont get the regular flu vaccine. they say swine flu isnt any more dangerous than regular flu. why would i get the vaccine for that? esp untested?

i would pull my kids out of school if my school said they were having a vax day. i think i need to have a talk with them about not letting anybody else give them a shot without me there. never thought it would be a concern.

Ugh, my 5-yo starts kindy in the fall. I hope they don't decide to start shooting up kids in our school district. I don't know if I'd keep him home that day or just tell his teacher, the principal, and my son that he is NOT to get the shot and trust that he won't. Ugh.

I agree with the PP, too - H1N1 is no worse than regular flu, why the heck would I get a shot for it? I've heard that with illnesses like this they can come on mild at first, go away for a short time, then mutate and come back a lot worse, but if it mutates the vaccine won't do a darn bit of good anyway. If it even does any good in the first place. I don't get the line of thinking at all.

The line of thinking might be something like this: the WHO has declared a 'pandemic'! Many people in the US are easily panicked! The media is going crazy!! The government has been told by WHO it must act quickly to avoid dire consequences and is the ONLY country that could come up with a vaccine quickly enough to save the world! Our government gives BILLIONS to pharma companies to develop vaccine and even bails out a pharma company on the brink of bankruptcy to develop a vax (yes this happened - google Protein Science Corporation)! Swine flu dies out and is no big deal. The WHO and our government don't want to lose face and admit they've wasted billions of tax dollars on the vaccine. Idea; Vaccinate all kids to keep flu from mutating into worse strain for winter. Swine flu goes nowhere - obviously, vaccines have again save the day and the US saves the world!!!

Its doubtful adults (who won't even take the seasonal flu vaccine) would ever consent to the untested swine flu vaccine. Answer: give it to kids. Tell parents kids can't go to school without it. Done. I mean, we've spent billions on the vaccine - do you think we are just going to let it sit there?

ETA: HAHAHA Tayndrewsmama - I see you said what I wanted to in A LOT less typing!!

I think the biggest thing here is that most people don't even really understand the definition of pandemic. It means that it is spread over a wide geographic area, not that it's more deadly than other things that are going on. The word should not be so similar to pandemic. That's all is does is induce panic IMO. It's not the WHO's fault that people don't know this though I guess.

Except that if it's not that deadly, then there would not be such a massive push to get a vaccine out in record time and start pushing it untested on children. So while in theory, I agree, in reality, they are using the word just like people think of it.

Are you saying that you have info that this is somehow much more deadly than any number of other things that are circulating?
