I'd have a look in the diapering section... I like the mama bird pattern and the celtic cloth pattern, though the latter is not free. It will come up on google if you look.

I second celtic cloth. Celtic cloth does have a free pattern but it's a size medium. It's a pocket diaper like a fuzzi bunz but fits way better. I guess it just depends on what type of diaper you want to use fitted with cover, all in one, or pocket diaper. I personally have tried all of these systems and really like the pocket diapers. I just made my 20 month old son a new celtic cloth pocket diaper today and he went 3 hours and not a single leak ( he's a heavy wetter too). Jalie just came out with a new pocket diaper pattern that looks really nice. You can purchase it at Kids in the Garden ( sorry don't know how to do a link) they have some tutorials of the Jalie pattern there too, it looks pretty easy. Kids in the Garden has a great selection of PUL and great customer service and fast shipping. There are alot of free patterns too, Wee Weka is a good site for free patterns, Shars newborn fitted is a good fitted pattern, used it on my son. Also try Diaper Sewing Divas forum, they have great patterns and a really good gallery to see what diapers all the sewing mamas make, lots of stuff to drool over there. Have fun.

i like the construction of the mama bird pattern, but i made over 20 for DS before he was born and they never did fit him b/c his legs were too husky!

I used the Mama Bird pattern for this baby who was born 10 days ago. I opted to not make the newborn size (I have some NB diapers my aunt had made already) so I haven't actuallly used them yet. What I noticed about them was that the tabs seems a bit short and that the rise was lower/not as high as I would like (I have lanky children). I did extend the tabs but left the rise. I'll see how they fit/work and adjust for the next size!

The plus side is that the pattern was free and very easy to follow!!!

There is a sticky here with free patterns: http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=717638

I used the RRP pattern for my son and now make diapers with my own pattern; it has the same design concept as the RRP though.
