Your dream newborn/small CD stash?

I've just found out I'm pregnant again, and am thrilled to be able to dream about CDing from the start this time (DD was 11 months when we switched).

I have some small and lots of medium and O/S diapers, but nothing for newborns and not enough smalls to make a stash.

There are so many different types of diapers I want to try, so I am planning on getting a few of each - from flats to some AIOs for DH to use. I know this isn't particularly cost effective, but it's really the only cost for this baby so I don't mind sinking a bit of "fun money" into this - I'd like to have enough diapers for 3 days if possible (so... 30 diapers?).

Here's what I want to try:

Flats (just a few, mainly for fun, but I can see using them a lot actually simply for ease of washing/drying)

Prefolds (dyed if possible - I'm a colour junkie) - infant sized - I have premium size already - probably most of the diapers will be prefolds/fitteds

Lukes Drawers Newborn Hugs (3? 5?)

Kissaluvs Colours Fitteds (5?)

Bamboozle (2? 3? DD loved her Bamboozles)

FuzziBunz O/S (are they good?)

SugarPeas 2-in-one (1? 2?) with wool cover

Maybe some small HH for DH to use

M/E Airflow cover(s)

Thirsties cover(s)

Wool longies

So I think I have room for a couple of other fun diapers - any suggestions? Diapers you really love?

Oooooohhhhhh - so fun! And congrats mama!

Those sound great! I really loved my BG aio's in XS and small when my son was first born. I also really liked the fitteds - sherpa HH fitted and bamboo fitted. Also, XS and small HH pockets - they fit great too

Have fun! It is a great thing to spend fun money on!!

I didn't love my fuzzibunz until I got into the larger sizes, I would skip them for a newborn/little baby.

I did love my kissaluv 0's for the newborn stage. I'm having a great time pulling them out of the box and sorting them again. I think they're really why I fell in love with cloth diapers. So tiny and cute and they work so great for that size. I liked my prowrap covers with them. I'm looking into maybe getting a couple of thirsties too.

I really really liked my firefly diapers too (and they come in great colors!). They were really the only style of diaper that fit my ds well through all the stages. Expensive, but we got a lot of use out of them, the smalls fit my ds until he was about 10 months old and then we went straight to larges after that.

My favorite AIO cloth diaper is the Drybees AIO Pockets. I'm currently using them with our 2 month old. What I like about them is that I can add extra inserts if I want (which I haven't yet). I find them really absorbant, my hubby likes them because they're just as easy as disposables.

You can find them here: http://www.bluezoobabyboutique.com/s...mbs=No&Thumbs=

Wow! I LOVE those! I don't generally buy across the border (shipping, exchange rate), but this might be an exception...

I wanna play, too!!! I don't have a baby bum to diaper, but I've been planning my stash for sometime now. I want 12 Little Lions Fitteds, 12 GMD Infant Fitteds, 12 Orange Edge Prefolds, and 3 SposoEasy AIOs. It's relatively simple, and not exactly a "fun" stash, but it should do the trick. I want to have variety while still keeping things economical and using natural fibers.

BTW, congrats on the pregnancy!

Ok, what ARE orange edge prefolds? I keep seeing this. Is it a particular brand, or is it just the colour of the edging for infant prefolds?

Anyone have opinions on Swaddlebees newborn fitteds vs. Kissaluvs? I was at a CD store today, and they are pretty sweet too.

I ran across Babykicks Hemparoo prefolds there too... oh my, they are luscious, although very expensive for prefolds!

Orange edge prefolds are Cloth-eez prefolds sold mostly (if not exclusively...I don't know) at Green Mountain Diapers.

Those Swaddlebees fitteds are sooooo adorable! If I were choosing between those and Kissaluvs, I'd choose Swaddlebees, despite the fact that so many people swear by Kissaluvs.

They are really worth it. They're awesome (and pretty!)

Green Mountain Diapers doesn't ship to Canada unfortunately, which sucks.

That does suck! How can you get Cloth-eez prefolds if you are in Canada?

Fuzzi bunz one size are going to be way too big for a little bitty baby. You can't adjust the rise, only the leg gusset. I use them on my 4.5 month old at night and they're still huge on her...they are a good night time diaper for her though. I just bought 1 bum genius 3.0 in small and really like it...DH uses it and the sposoeasy AIOs for middle of the night diaper changes. I plan on buying more of those BG. I have tons of BG AIO organic one size but I like how trim the sized one is. I plan on buying a couple more in the next size since she'll outgrow small in a couple months.

Congrats!

You can try to get them secondhand or you can get them shipped to someone in the States and then get that person to re-ship to you.

I have some of the brown edges and honestly, I don't find them spectacular enough to bother with if it isn't easy to do. (My unbleached Bummis are way way more absorbant.)

Okay, any comments on the Happy Heiny mini one-size? Or Swaddlebees mini?

I'm trying to find something easy for DH to manage, as fitteds and covers make him grumpy.... I'm also going to look into the BG XS.

Are pockets/AIOs really do-able for newborn runny poo? Or am I going to get blowouts, and should just train DH to use the fitteds?

Also, meconium - is this a big enough deal that we should buy a pack of newborn sposies to take us through the first week or so? I can't remember how long it lasted with DD, and I don't know how big a deal it is - she was in sposies.

there is ALWAYS room. LOL

I would do Firefly's. If I had an unlimited budget I would step back to some originals and get some El-bee's.

A whole stash of Tinkle Traps prefold fitteds and Lovebums wool pull up covers. Maybe some longies.

I'm expecting baby#4 this fall/winter (our last ) and I've been having fun gathering up newborn diapers. I think I'm about done with buying

We have for the newborn stage:

12 Green Mountain Diapers organic orange edge prefolds
12 newborn size bamboo prefolds (from www.hyenacart.com/pbellie)
6 Imse Vimse NB terry contour fitteds
6 Tinkle Traps infant prefitteds

2 newborn wool interlock soakers (from www.hyenacart.com/luxebaby)
I'll knit a bunch of tiny longies

For the small stage we have:

12 Green Mountain Diapers organic yellow edge prefolds
6 Dream-Eze small organic cotton fitteds
6 Imse Vimse NB terry contour fitteds should still fit
6 Dream-Eze organic cotton AIOs for going out

2 small interlock soakers from Luxe baby
small knit wool

I prefer natural materials, especially organic cotton. We use mostly wool as a cover but I'm getting some small AIOs for the diaper bag.

I am a prefold diaper/Thirsties cover fan! So, I plan to go that route again right from the beginning.

Meconium didn't stain for us... the bright yellow poos did though! Honestly, unless you are planning to resell immediately, staining in general isn't that big an issue.
