they can definately be useful, just not for diapers imo I bought some and used them like many for burp cloths, an impromptu changing pad, and all around messy baby cleanups. I loved them for when the baby started eating because that way I wouldnt stain (baby food stains horribly) any kitchen towels or use a whole bunch of paper.

I used them to soak up milk as well but found them not absorbant for that task and switched to infant pfs instead.

I'm in process of cutting up some create a soaker for the newborn fitteds I'm sewing. I figure newborns don't need a crazy amount of absorbancy....
