Babywearing lifestyle questions! - Page 2

We had an infant stroller, which DD is now too big for, we got at a yardsale for $5, which we used on occassion (more to put food underneath the basket at the grocery store than anything else). We don't own a car so whenever we go out we have DD in her carrier, I'd say, 99% of the time.

DH hasn't figured out how to put our carrier on by himself, so in the very rare instances when he has DD out and about by himself he'll use an umbrella stroller (again, we picked this up at a yardsale for $5 too!). So yeah, we do use strollers but so rarely that it wasn't worth it to buy anything expensive, just yardsales stuff. We are thinking about getting a jogging stroller so it'll be easier for me to work out since I work at home a lot and would love to get a run in but we haven't decided for sure.

We bought one of those convertible cribs that can turn into a full size bed. Then you don't feel bad if you don't use it too much (although DD takes all her naps in the crib unless I take one with her). We also always put her down for the night in the crib and then after that she comes into bed with us (it's nice to have some private time in your bed too!).

And then try to find other baby-wearers and borrow theirs once baby is born, and find out what works best for us. If you need a push-chair you can always buy one later, though it is probably a good idea to choose 1 you would like. Same thing, you can pick out different types of carriers you might like to try, like which Mei Tai you would prefer, and which SSK (Ergo, Manduca,Beco?) or different woven wraps or slings.
Good luck!
Totally agree! With DD we found a pikkolo worked the best for us (I love me some buckles!) but I never would've known that until I saw how heavy my LO was. We bought a cheap sling, which she hated and grew out of immediately, so I'm thankful we didn't spend much on that! We also had a cheap mei tai, which killed my back so again, I'm thankful we didn't spend the big bucks until after she was born and we could try out a few.
