Making an Onbuhimo

I am starting on making an Onbuhimo today but can't decide on the straps. In the past I have made wide straps for my MT's and love them. I kind of want to try out padded straps this time but really like the wide straps. So I got to thinking really wide padded straps? If I do that will that just make the straps extra bulky and PITA? Also, if I do add padding then wouldn't it make the carrier more heavy since I will need double the fabric on each strap and the padding? I know it would be like 5 libs of extra fabric but still. My goal here is to have a nice light(er), super comfy carrier. I am going the Onbuhimo route to lose the weight of the waist straps. So what do you all think??

You don't really need heavily padded straps. Lightly padded would be fine. And even when you do pad them, you are still only using 2 layers of fabric and then the padding between that. It doesn't add much weight.

What I reccomend, though, is to try a tibetan carry with your Obuhimo because it will give you a good high carry and put the weight more in your chest instead of your shoulders.
