Today's midwife appointment.....

.....went okay. Had the GD test, and the drink (I had the fruit punch) was really not that bad. Kind of like the stuff I drank when I was a kid (hawaiian punch??). Fingers crossed that I passed! I was a little irritated b/c I had to wait a long time in the waiting room, but then I found out that there was an emergency c-section, so they were down one doctor- and then I felt bad for complaining!

LO's heart rate was in the 130s, and it's been consistently low, so I'm really starting to think boy (we didn't find out with our u/s). I thought that was just an old wives' tale, but even my mw mentioned the same thing- that we could "speculate" that way, anyway. This combined with the fact that I think I saw a "lil' somethin'" on the u/s when baby flipped over unexpectedly makes me really lean towards boy, but we shall see!

Weight gain total so far: +2 lbs. But I did lose 15+ to HG, and my mw wasn't concerned about it, so....I'm going to keep eating healthy and exercising and not worry about. Her words, "you have 13 more weeks to gain weight!"

The only thing I was a little concerned about was that I measured 25, and I'm 26w6d. My mw wasn't at all worried herself- she said that +/- 2 cm is fine. Have I mentioned that I have a laid-back mw? I guess we'll see how everything is coming along in another couple of weeks!

well, you know i was measuring 2.5wks behind at my almost 25wk appt. so I FEEL YOU on that!

i have decided that every couple weeks i must go through a growth spurt (i posted about this once, Uterine Growth Spurts?) b/c my belly becomes really sensitive no matter what position i try to lay in at night. this hasn't happened in awhile, and just started 2 nights ago. so i am hopeful that we're doin' some growing!!!

i have to really keep myself away from the tape measure...and im always poking to see where the top of my fundus is. its sorta maddening!

hooray for good appointments.

my midwife is similarly laid back, she checks the heartbeat and i have no idea what it is even! as long as she thinks it's good, we are ok

i too thought the glucola tasted like the drinks from when we were kids!

I agree! At 23 weeks i was measuring ahead, and I definitely have felt really sore lately, so I feel like one is coming on. I hate it- I wake up feeling like someone has beaten me about the stomach! It's crazy how sore your belly can get. So I def. know how you feel!

Glad it went well!!!

And I hear you about being annoyed in the waiting room, then feeling guilty. I used to get rather annoyed at drs who overbook then run late, then rush my appt to try to get back on schedule. THEN I had a special needs child and more than a few times, I'VE been the one who sets off the dr's schedule, because I won't let them leave the room until I'm fully satisfied with their answers!! So I will never EVER get annoyed with a dr running late again I will ask to reschedule if I have some other appt to make it to. And if I know that the issues I want to talk to the dr about are involved, I'll mention that when I schedule the appt so they book it for longer or at the end of the day to avoid the domino effect, but sometimes things come up unexpectedly!

I also didn't think the glucose drink was that bad (I had several tests with my first and one test with my second). I drank the orange stuff, and it was just like orange soda. I just didn't like the shakey feeling I got from it.

And, not to burst your bubble, but all three of my boys (in utero boy included!) have had heart rates in the 160s, edging into the 150s in my third tri, then 140s by delivery.

Oh, I don't have a preference either way! I can honestly say I'd be equally happy with either gender. I think it's just fun to form guesses! It's crazy how much heart rates change- my lo's started out in the upper 140s, then lower 140s, now 130s. This is driving me absolutely crazy- but in a really fun way!

My MW is totally laid back too.

We talked about waterbirth and she says if I end up pushing in the tub she doesn't even like to put her hands in the water, but will instead guide me verbally through it. I thought that was really cool.
