Vet costs?

Just curious what do vets charge in your area for the following:

Exam fee-

Fecal sample check-

Basic shots (combo vax)-

Rabies shot one and/or three year-

Heartworm test-

Blood Panel-

All of that would be about $250 at our vet.

It depends on the animal. It's a lot less for a cat than a dog. Less for a smaller dog than a bigger dog. I have no idea why size matters ... but vets who specialize in large breed dogs are, for some reason, more expensive then "general" vets. Also, a humane society will charge less than a private vet.

I pay $200.00 for my yearly vet visit with my dog. We do his titres in this visit as well. I also purchase a year's supply of Ivermectin from the vet (main ingredient in heartgard). I go to a vet that "specializes" in large breeds.

We actually pay the same exact thing for our small dog. They both just had everything you listed. Our big girl is 75lbs. and our little one is 25lbs. The only difference in cost we've experienced is in anesthesia and medications.

Interesting to see this thread today as I just called a couple of vets to get prices. The holistic vet was $52 for the exam and shots ranged from 12-20. I didn't get the price on a fecal sample. For comparison I also called a typical vet and the exam was $50 with shots ranging from 12-25 and fecal sample was 38. The two places I called only asked what type of animal it was, not the size.

I don't know about a lot of that stuff, but at our vet a visit is $34 and a heartworm test is $30-35.

Fecal - from 12-30 dollars
Shots - huge range from 30-200
Rabies - 10-50
Heartworm test - 15-35
