Shampoo Bars?

Thread Starter
I've mastered the homemade conditioner, and I'm looking to buy some shampoo bars (I'm a novice soaper and would rather buy them, at least for the time being).

Any recs? I have fairly long, very thick, naturally wavy dark hair, FWIW.

I haven't tried a shampoo bar yet, but I'd love to hear about your homemade conditioner! Would you mind sharing a recipe? I have very thick naturally curly hair so conditioner is key.

I really like the Burt's Bees Rosemary/Mint bar. It's only about $6 and lasts a long time.

There are several people I have purchased from on Etsy that I love (PixieSoap, DressGreen and SpaTherapy). Sadly my hair hates Shampoo bars, but I am very curious about your conditioner!

I've tried a few from Chagrin Valley. They didn't work for me but are working for my dds. I bought 3 sample bars to try. Right now I'm using J.R.R. Ligetts and am LOVING it!!!

LOVE Chagrin valley! I've been using them for 2 weeks now, and after a few times, my hair is so soft & shiny. i don't need conditioner anymore, either.

This works great on my kids and husband, but I had problems with it because I have really long hair. It left some kind of residue or something. I've tried a couple of the Chagrin Valley soaps and liked them all

Same... if anyone knows a company that retails from australia (shipping on bars would kill) I'd love to know. The ones I found & ordered here left a horrid gummy/waxy feeling residue on my hair.. I hated them!

I'm a novice soaper, too, who believes that one soap is about as good as the next. I use my soaps pretty interchangeably. I suggest you make a baby soap and try it in your hair. I have some that i made...i may just try that tonight.

If it leaves too much residue, make a less-moisturizing soap.

Worth a try.
