Help me with night time diapering

Hi mammas,
I started cloth diapering about 2 or so monthes ago, maybe more. I am using pocket diapers i bought cheap on ebay, they work great during the day and i love them. However, I can't figure out night time. My son sleeps from about 7:30 pm till about 7:30 am. He nurses a couple times in between, but we cosleep and neither of us really wakes up for this. My problem? You guessed, nightly leaks. 12 hours is a very long time, I know, but if i try to change him during the night he wakes up fully and stays up for a while and I really don't want to interfere with his sleep. I've been experimenting stuffing his diaper with stuff we have around the houre. Most recently i've tried folding a flannel recieving blanket into a 16 layer pad and he completly soaks that through. On top of that he is a side sleeper and he really does not look confortable with so much bulk in his diaper. Any suggestions? we are living off unemployment checks while dh is looking for a job, so money is sooo tight now, can't afford any pricy inserts or diapers. I really don't want to use sposies again, and those barely made it though the night either. Help!!!

I use a pocket (FB) with hemp and microfiber and then a wool cover over top. My boy pees a LOT at night and I need the double cover to keep it in.

I would use a microfiber towel or two. Just make sure it doesn't come into contact with baby's skin. Also, I have seen at the store for like $5.00, the old school vinyl pants. I have never used them but I am sure one of those over the extra stuffed diaper would prevents leaks until you can figure something else out.

What works for us a semi-fitted GAD pocket (stuffed with whatever you want) with a dancing bears fleece cover. Otherwise, a regular pocket (like FB or BG) is too air-tight at night and causes rashes and just not absorbent enough. We love this new system-- I have 3 semi-fitted GADS and 1 cover and it works great.

There are a lot of different combos we use at night, but with pockets, we like to use 3 inserts, a combo of microfiber and hemp. Hemp you'd have to order online, but the mf towels you can buy at Walmart or wherever in the automotive section. I saw a package of 6 or 8 for like $5-6. I would trifold the towel, and use like 3 of them. Microfiber has it's disadvantages for some people: not a natural fiber, and can hold stink...but they've worked well for many. For us, mf is more absorbant than cotton, so you can get more absorbancy with less bulk.

Bamboo is also a popular choice, but again, you'd have to order those online and they would cost more...
