Where are all the PP mamas? - Page 2

I've been popping in now and then to see who's given birth.

We're doing well here. Timothy was 3 weeks old on Monday, and as of that day, he was up to 9 lbs 8 oz - exactly 2 lbs over birth weight! He didn't even lose weight in the beginning. He's an excellent nurser, but kind of finicky because he'll only nurse when he's completely awake and not gassy. Then he gets lazy while nursing sometimes and will slip down on the nipple. Had excruciating nipple pain in the first couple weeks because of that, but we're much better now. He doesn't comfort nurse, which is kind of nice. My second didn't comfort nurse either. Both have been quick on and off - just nurse to eat. And both gained like mad, so I guess whatever works!

Timothy's reflux pain is starting to kick in. I've been giving him probiotics for the last week, but haven't really noticed any difference yet. He has a well baby check next Thursday, so we'll likely get reflux meds at that point. My other 2 had reflux and needed the meds due to the pain as well, so I expected it. But other than that issue, he's sleeping good and pretty content. We're getting occasional nights in his own bed, but sometimes we end up in the recliner due to the reflux during part of the night (we can't safely co-sleep in our bed, plus I find it horribly uncomfortable). He's started to sleep 3-4 hour stretches some nights.

Here's some recent pictures:

I like the one that looks like he's practicing mind control.

I'm getting used to taking all 3 kids out by myself. I've done errand trips where we had 4 stops to make, and Timothy did great riding in the pouch.

My little guy is just over 3 weeks old (he was born May 28 - a week early). Between him and my 3 1/2 year old DD, I'm lucky to get 5 minutes a day on the computer. We have got out way more than we did with DD at this stage, though. Already we've taken him to preschool 4 times, to a preschool field trip, grocery shopping, etc. Compared to preschoolers, babies are EASY! Hah.

Makenna is a little over 2 weeks old now. We had some rough goings with breastfeeding during the first week, but things are MUCH better now. She is an excellent sleeper...I get at least one 5 hour stretch at night. She doesn't stay awake much and if she is, she usually wants to attach herself to the boob to fall back asleep This week I will be alone with all 4 kids during the day. I am a little nervous about trying to keep the boys entertained without losing my mind. Thankfully, I have wonderful friends who are providing me with meals all week so that is one less thing I have to worry about!

Still here, reading about all the births :. Elsie is doing awesome, she was 4 weeks old on Saturday. She's an eating machine! She is also a crazy peeing machine, so we are having trouble with our CDs, she soaks through them in 45 mins, still experimenting. We are so in love with her, I am sure it is nauseating

Hah! I am so here, too. I am NOT adjusting to changing boy diapers at all. I get peed on at least once a day. He's an expert at peeing all over his clothes, which I expected. But I didn't anticipate needing to change mine every diaper change, too. Oy.

For the record, Pee Pee Teepees do NOT work. At all. He shoots them across the room.

i'm here! teo will be a month on thursday! i can hardly believe it. i'm online fairly often but my arms are usually full of baby so i don't do much typing, just reading.

he's doing awesome. he has had one gnarly diaper rash that we are slowly recovering from but otherwise pretty smooth sailing. DS the elder has been between here and his dad's house. he comes home tomorrow and has pneumonia so we'll be laying low, watching movies while my DP is working.

when it is just teo and i here i sit around and stare at him when he is in my arms.

I've had an inspiration and set up a play date with all the preschool kids for every sunny Wednesday at our local park. I was surprised how many families from the school jumped on that idea when I sent the email around. Their kids must be driving them nuts too. Hah.

I took a vid clip of the pee pee teepee for my mom last time! haha! Both my sons get ...hmmm.. what is the pc term??? Let's just say I can tell when they have to pee because their penis stands at attention?!

I am here Trenton will be a week old tomorrow and this whole having 2 babies thing has actually been a much easier adjustment than I thought. DS1 (14 months) LOVES the baby and I don't think he remembers him ever not being here. We are still trying to organize the house better so we can function normally (ie, bring a bunch of CDs and clothes downstairs so I am not running up and down all the time) but we are really doing pretty good!!! I seem to be recovering very well from my c/s too so, yay!

My first two are 19 months apart, and it has been difficult at times, but so awesome to have them spaced so close. They are each other's best playmate, because like you said, they don't really remember the other one not being there. You'll love watching them play and grow :

This is my third boy, and I think it took at least a week or two to remember to cover that boy up at diaper changes. He even peed on his own face one time!

Now I just take a preemie sized prefold (or you could use a cloth wipe or just a wash cloth) and cover up his little fire hose as soon as I open the diaper. That prefold stays there until I'm ready to close up the fresh diaper. I haven't been peed on in a while now.

I'm here now too. Ds is 2 and half days old, lol. I haven't been able to do much other than nurse him constantly...which is fine by me.

I am here, but haven't had much time to get online. With Shane having been in the NICU an hour away, I just spent all my time at the hospital and didn't even want to get near the computer.

Now we are home, he is nursing like a champ and is in my sisters arms right now. She is here visiting so I have been trying to share him a little bit.

DH is loving this baby stage. He wants to hold him all the time. The kids are loving him, but my oldest isn't interested in holding him much at all. Oh well, that is a 12 year old for you.

Thats about all that is going on with us. Baby is just really doing well.

Oh, he did have a well baby check up today and Dr. confirmed again (like the neonatalogist did) to keep the baby away from a ton of people. That is nice since I don't feel like having a ton of people around anyway.

I'm here, and as of today joining the pumping club. Sylvan is 3 days old and has lost 14 oz of body weight, plus will not latch on. She's done it, and is capable of it, but refuses to shut her mouth and suck. It's like a nursing strike at 3 days old. So we are supplementing with formula, pumping and syringe feeding, while trying to get her on the breast.

Everything that's happened with her birth and first few days of life is like a lesson for me on how the best laid plans are subject to change at a whim.

I'm here, Z is a week old today! At 930pm tonite actually. I didn't even realize that until I had to figure it out!

he is super easy in daytime though night can be a challenge. I think I am having a foremilk/hindmilk issue - some green watery stools, fussiness, etc. My breasts are SUPER huge and take multiple feeds to empty. So I am trying block feeding (today I did two feeds before switching breasts) but its still green tonite so I guess its not working yet - I could try three a side before switching? any experience with this? I'm guessing my milk needs to settle out a bit before it'll fix itself, right? As soon as my supply slows down a bit? But I also want to make sure i'm not continuing to overstimulate and keep the supply too high.

any advice is appreciated

I'm here!! Isaac is 5 days old and things are going well. I actually feel great. If he wasn't so itty bitty and I didn't want to knaw off everyone's arm when they touched him, I'd get out and about some. I did venture out and take him to the pedi and ended up nursing him there (so kinda our first NIP but not really as we were in a room lol). I nursed in front of the pedi and the nurse if that counts? I'm a little nervous about the baby blues rearing its ugly head but so far things have been going ok. He is an amazing sleeper so I think I'm blessed there. We were having some issues with him latching since I've become engorged. His little mouth is just having a hard time getting a deep latch so we're using a shield on one side and I'm pumping after his feeds. It's definitely helped tons as he's not screaming from starvation anymore and I'm not having meltdowns at every feeding. Other than that things are going well.

For those having troubles with latching, one thing that helped with my second (who, from the Breastfeeding Answer Book, we decided had a "short tongue") was to have DH spoon feed about 1/2 oz of pumped milk while I pumped the breast we were about to feed on, then we'd transfer him to that breast, which was no longer hugely engorged, plus the nipple was sticking out nicely, etc. Just made it easier for him to latch. He had lost about 8 oz, my milk came in around day 4, and he didn't latch all night that night, giving him completely dry diapers all night. So we had to get something in him. The spoon feeding/pumping routine only had to be done for about a day and a half. After that, it would sometimes take 45 minutes to get him to latch, but he would latch, at least. The Breastfeeding Answer Book said the "short tongue" issue is usually cleared up around 6 weeks, and sure enough... at 5.5 weeks, he started latching first try. It was a long, hard road, but definitely worth it. I'm so thankful to the LLL leader that came to my house to help me.

I am sorry that the birth and now breastfeeding is not going as you had hoped, I understand how hard that can be I just wanted to let you know I am thinking of you and hoping that you can get her to the breast and nursing soon.

Thank you. It's hard to explain how exactly it all feels. It means a lot to me just to know someone understands.
