Baby insists on continuous movement while being worn?

I guess the title pretty much sums it up. LO is two months old and loves being worn... as long as I'm very active or he is asleep.

Even the motion of emptying the dishwasher (going back and forth with plates and such) is not novel enough for him. He wants to go on an adventure where mamas is constantly walking and the scenery always changes. I have a ring sling, a wrap, and a ssc. It doesn't matter which one I use or in what position.

Otherwise, he's a very easy baby with a mild, pleasant temperament. So what gives? Is anybody else's baby like this? Is it his personality or can I have hope this is temporary? I just read in another thread that some mamas are able to read or study while babywearing. Is that something typically experienced only while the child is sleeping? Help!

Yes, my daughter was - I found the "stillest" I could be was sitting on an exercise ball while workign at my computer, bouncing up and down. That was the minimal amount of motion she would accept.

Could be either, only time will tell

For me, with my daughter, it was. But my son would just hang out while I worked at my computer, awake or asleep. It just totally depends on the baby. BOTH are normal.
Happy babywearing!

Thank you so much for answering! Time will tell how my little guy will end up being, I guess.

I had to be in constant motion when the babe was that age. Now he'll even let me sit down - hope your babe grows out of it too, in the meantime think of all the exercise you're getting.

Mine is the same (4 months old). Even when he's asleep in the wrap, he stays asleep much better if I keep walking, though if he's totally out he won't notice if I sit down for a bit. If he's awake and in the wrap, he wants me to be on a walk, with him watching the world go by. Occasionally he will consent to be in the frame backpack looking over my shoulder as I wash dishes or cook, but that's usually short lived.
He's otherwise an easy, pleasant baby as well. As he gets older, he'll play by himself on the floor for longer periods. So I do computer work when he's asleep, or when he's playing on the floor, or when daddy has him.

My 14mo DD still requires constant, purposeful forward motion if she's going to be content in the wrap. We can go slowly, and we can pause and rock for a few seconds at a time (like browsing at a farmer's market), but pacing inside the house, sitting, swaying, etc. aren't acceptable to her.

You are describing my DS at 2 mos! He needed motion, and if he was awake - changing scenery. He was never content in the carrier inside much. He liked to be outside. It got better, though, especially when we started back carries at around 5 mos. Now I can sweep and vaccuum and tidy with him back there (or him playing on the floor, these days!)
