Swim Diapers?

The point of a swim diaper is to hold poop in and keep it from floating away, yet urine probably leaks out whatever type is used, right?

I am thinking that I can just use my BumGenius pocket diapers, without the soaker pad- just the shell. Has anyone done this?

I've used the bum genius diapers as swim diapers. She didn't poop while wearing them in the pool though, so i'm not sure how great they'd work for holding in the poop. But, I do know that in normal use she rarely has a poopy blowout in her bum genius diapers, so i'm sure they'd hold the poo in pretty well. I left the insert in the diapers in the pool... which didn't work out so great since the insert got soaked.

My son is still EBF, so his poops are really runny anyway. But I don't think any swim diaper (disposable or cloth-swim-specific) would hold that in.

You can use them just fine. Just expect a little ballooning when you pull her out of the water. no harm.

Yes, any pocket diaper without the insert would work.

What you need is a nice snug fit around the legs, and also around the waist if your LO still has runny poops. You can try the BG ahead of time to check that you have a good fit, and it should be fine. I use pocket diapers all the time without inserts, as swim diapers, although I prefer to use Fuzzi Bunz because then I can use a size too small to make sure I get a good fit around the legs.
