Fav fabric for a fitted

There seem to be many options and I'm considering making some, but don't want to invest in a bunch of something pricey and then find out it's not all it's cracked up to be.

Flannel seems to be simple, cheap, and readily available. But what about cotton-hemp blends, or cotton-bamboo, or velour or sherpa (I'm not entirely sure I know what those are, and my local fabric store certainly doesn't have them). And then cotton fleece I've seen too...is it like micro-fleece/polar fleece, i.e. feels like polyester but absorbs like cotton?

And then there's the soaker - terry? velour or sherpa as above? just extra flannel? If you've not made them you might not know what the soaker is in your fitteds. But if you had to guess.

Oh, and do you prefer aplix or snaps? I used snaps when DD was really little and hated them, but now that she is inclined to take off her own diaper at random times, I can see the appeal.

Thanks!

There are so many options out there! My faves are probably hemp fleece or bamboo velour. I did make some diapers from flannel, but you need more layers, and they always seemed like they took too long to dry. Cotton absorbs well, I just feel like you get more absorbancy with less bulk with hemp or bamboo.

I use the same for my soakers. I get htem both online. Kids in the garden and Covered Caboose are two wahms I like to work with.

I have mixed feelings regarding aplix vs snaps. Aplix i get a better fit, snaps are less maintenance (hold up better). I tend to go snaps for my fitteds and aplix for my covers.

My favorite fabric is organic cotton velour. IME it is the only fabric that actually stays soft. Bamboo is super soft at first, but ends up piling and getting rough, sherpa is the same way.The exception, for me so far, is dream-eze. The Hemp is great for absorbency, but I like it better when it is sandwiched in the middle with velour next to my baby's skin. I have never used any synthetic fabrics so I don't know what those are like, but anything synthetic to me is kinda icky.

As far as aplix and snaps, it's a toss up for me. I can't say which one I like best. HTH, Alicia

Hemp Cotton Fleece
Hemp Cotton French Terry -- is at the top of my list
Organic Cotton Fleece or Velour
Organic Bamboo/Cotton Velour

I am still a diehard for flannel diapers and use it largely in my production of product.

Don't dig synthetics and like to keep natural fibers next to natural skin.
