Is it healthy?
DS has always liked cream cheese, when my milk dried up he turned into a cream cheese monster. Not sure if this is good for him or not.

I personally think cream cheese is a great source of fat and protein and delicious yumminess! Like everything, the source of the cream cheese is something to consider.

Cream cheese is great, so long as it's not full of growth hormone or antibiotics. Unfortunately I can't find organic cream cheese - but I can find growth hormone/antibiotic free.

Thanks
I may be wrong but Canadian milk and milk products don't contain hormones and antibiotics do they?

Cream cheese is fairly low in protein but high in fat. A very young child who's not longer nursing definitely benefits from those fats.

Where the heck did you hear that?

I think that there are a few things not found as monstrously in Canadian milk as in the US, but we certainly have our fair share of junk in there.

I loooooooooove cream cheese. Oddly enough though, I'm always unimpressed with the organic ones I can find (which are always spreadable type too, never brick type, so no cheesecakes) and end up going back to yummy Philly... whatever is in THAT sigh...

Canadian dairy products contain no artificial growth hormones, antibiotics or chemicals. http://www.thegreatcanadianmoo.ca/

Canada in 1999 rejected approval of
the hormone. The decision came after a widely publicized scandal in which
veterinarian and Health Canada reviewer Dr. Margaret Haydon testified to a
Canadian Senate committee how her files on bovine growth hormone were stolen
from her office; she also appeared on "The Fifth Estate," a Canadian TV
program, and alleged how Health Canada had been offered a million dollars in
research funding by Monsanto if the hormone were approved.
Fascinating. I don't remember hearing about that at all. Of course, I had a new baby and was working on my Masters grad recital in 1999, and then moving across the country... I was probably pretty distracted!

And antibiotics are used, but the milk from that cow is discarded for a few days and milk can't be used if there's more than a certain amount present.

Interesting. Must research more.

I feel like cream cheese is processed and try not to eat much of it.
