Why do you wash when you wash?

I am trying to decide how often I want to wash my diapers. If you personally wash every other day or every three days, is it an issue of not having enough diapers to last any longer than that or is it an issue of not wanting to have your dipes sit there with poop and pee pee for longer than that? I hope this question makes since. I guess a better way to say it is....is it harder to get stains/smells out the longer they sit?

In my case, it was that that was all that would fit in the diaper pail (about 3 days, tops)! But it was also a good amount for my washing machine.

I use a drop of lavender oil on the pail liner, and that would make it smell sweet for the first 36 hours or so, but after that the smell that wafted out wasn't great, so 2-3 days was about all I could stand. I imagine the sooner you get them washed, the less stinky they are too, but I don't know that for sure.

I wash every 2-3 days as well for a similar reason. My pail is pretty full when we get to the beginning of the third day. But I also don't want to let dirty diapers sit any longer than 3 days. I think I likely have enough diapers to last me at least 4 days now - LOL! But I still wash every 2-3 days.

I usually wash when I start running out of covers, about every three days sometimes four. This week I washed on Sunday and today. That was the longest I've ever gone and were are down to our last few prefolds.

I line dry and have never had a problem getting the smells out.

I wash every 2-3 days, although I probably have enough diapers for a bit longer than that. It's a balance between the pail being full-ish, the washer (HE) being full, and if the weather is nice to hang the dipes on the line. I wouldn't want to leave them more than three days because of the stink. Which really isn't bad until right before wash time.

i wash every 2.5 days. lol. the washer is next door at my mom's house, and she has an he washer that will not fit any more dipes than that in it. i would go up to 4 days if she had a bigger washer that could handle all those dipes, just because i hate dragging stuff over there and keeping tabs on it (i dont trust her to wash my diapers for me, lol- as well meaning as she is). i barely have enough diapers by the time i wash, so i've ordered a few more. i hate feeling like im down to the bare minimum even though ive never run out.

i diapered my daughter with 24 prefolds, practiced part time/lazyish EC, changed her as soon as she was soiled in any way and washed about every other day. that was out of necessity but also i wouldn't want to let diapers sit longer than that. with this new babe i won't buy more than two dozen.

i wash (well usually dp washes) once a week, or every 5 days, usually when we run out of pocket diapers and only have prefolds left.

We wash every 2-4 days. I try to shoot for 3 because I don't think they do all that well with sitting too long, but life sometimes gets in the way.

routine was every 2.5 days. that was all that would fit into my diaper pales.

I wash every other day because I have a front loader and I find if I put any more in the machine they don't seem to get as clean. If I had a good washing machine I would wash every three days.

I wash every day, but thats because I LOVE doing the washing. I especially like hanging things out on the line- find it therapeutic. So I cant wait to do a load each day. Honestly, if there isnt enough piled up in the laundry hamper I will walk around the house trying to find things dirty enough to constitute washing. : Now Im going into hiding for this admission....
