How do you put diapers on a baby that rolls over all the time?!

I use mostly prefolds and I am going crazy trying to put diapers on Lucy. As soon as I lay her down, she rolls to her stomach. I've tried pinning backwards, but I can't get a tight fit at all. I've been using disposables lately just because I can't get a good fit with cloth. Any suggestions.

can you get a better fit trifolding and putting the pf in a snug fitting cover?

Yeah either trifold and cover, or you may have to do what I did and get some pockets LOL

How old is you LO? When my DD was about 6 months she started doing this. I stop trying to diaper, put her on her back, place my hand on her tummy, and say "hold still please". It took a while of doing this a lot, but now I can just say "hold still please" and she flips back onto her back and giggles at me. I think she thinks it's a game.

I only use wool covers because Lucy breaks out in a rash with any other kind of cover. I don't have any kind of covers I can use for try-folding, I only have soakers and shorts. I might have to break down and make some more fitteds.

She is seven months old, so I'll have to try the "hold still please" game and see if it will work.

I've never seen pull-up diapers! Where do you get them at?

i make them.
if you remind me on, umm, thursday, i will have some time to draw you up a pattern, if you are into sewing.
I would offer to make you some, but i am honestly not sure if i would have the time , by the time i finished a few the little one would probably be using the toilet (willing to give it a try though if you don't mind the wait.)

Can you hang some wind chimes, bells or shiny something above where you change diapers? Have an exciting toy/rattle that is only available for diaper time?
My dd will generally hold still, ds on the other hand. . . At 9 months I was doing the pf backwards thing too. Now he just wiggles everywhere. I allow a lot of naked bootie time. I have also been known to give absolutely forbidden objects like my cell phone to him while I'm doing diapers. I know it is frustrating!

Do you have a snappi? When my ds was going through that phase, I just put the prefold on backwards with a snappi. It worked great and it gave a really good fit actually. Thank goodness at 14 months he has finally decided to hold still!

You might be able to get a snap or velcro wool cover that you can trifold with. Or use fitteds, as you thought.

The good thing is the phase doesn't last very long. Especially if you can get the "hold still" bit down.

I remember it being very frustrating with ds (no matter what kind of diaper you are using!) but I don't think it lasted more than a couple months. I think he just had some crooked diapers there for a while.

I'm going through this on top of teething...and the only thing that seems to be working and I hate it is pining her to the floor with my feet on her chest. She screams like mad at me but I just can't deal with it. I did the lay still thing for a while and need to add that back in and use the pin down as a last resort!

I so want to make some pull on trainer type things...as we are doing some EC too! I dream of having ECaPants

A friend recommended having someone blow bubbles behind you while she is getting diapered. Not a great solution if you are home alone, but thought I'd throw it out there for ya.

I give DD a toy. She has learned to blow a recorder so that is a hit or a small book with interactive bits.

Occasionally I will pin her arms with my legs and change her on the floor.

If you have time, I would love to have a pattern! Thanks.

anything. anything that she wants to hold that isn't immediately dangerous.

yet again, i sacrifice my cellphone.

I keep her sisters toys that she usually isnt allowed to play with because they are too small on a shelf in by the changing area. When she gets restless I hand her one and she lays still... then I let her play with it for a minute and put it back.

: "Forbidden" toys always make DD stay still. Remote, cell phone, anything non-toy-like .

Lots of distraction! I give DS a new toy to occupy him with. He is a wiggle worm!
