Have you ever frozen carrots?

I've never actually had EXTRA carrots before, since our crop has failed four years running. Suddenly, I have a ton of them. I'm wondering if they freeze well. Typically when I freeze veggies, I blanch and freeze in glass or plastic, but I'm worried that the texture of the carrots might change too much-- I hate the way commercial frozen carrots taste, for instance.

Any insight?

I chop mine, blanch and freeze. I've never tried them just plain after being frozen, but they're great in soups and cooked in things.

I put raw carrot ends and trimmings in the freezer for stock, but I've never tried them in anything but soup...
