homemade dish soap

Thread Starter
hi mamas. i'm just about to make my own laundry soap and i realised the another major expense is our ecological (and not so effective) dish soap. i really like having liquid dish soap for hand-washing our dishes, but i have no idea how to make some.

any suggestions?

no replies?!? I'm looking for the same thing. All I can find is suggestions to use Dr. Bronner's, which isn't exactly a recipe...nor does it work. It leaves my glasses filmy.

No recipe here but what I do is to buy grated olive oil soap (you could grind your own but here it is actually cheaper to buy it grated!), put a teaspoon in a small bowl and then add hot water. Sometimes if I'm in the mood I add EO (e.g. lemon, grapefruit, geranium). The result is great and my dishes get really cleaned! After all this is the way my ancestors used to wash their dishes before the invention of washing-up liquid

I'm very interested to see how it turns out! I would love to make my own laundry and dish soap!

I was always curious about what would happen if you put a bit of the homemade laundry soap in the dishwasher. Never got around to trying it though.

I've wondered, too. My homemade laundry soap is similar to Charlie's, and they say people use that in dishwashers. So far, my homemade dishwasher detergent is doing ok...if i add soap to it.
