Garden Boots/Clogs/General Footwear?

Hey Ya'll ,
What'cha wearing on your feet in the dirt?

My Crocs are no good ( too many holes ) and just thinking my hiking boots will just get too thrashed with dirt for when I really want to 'Hike' in them.

I'm thinking about getting some basic rain boots or 'Wellies' soon. I wash too many socks from garden dust, lordy!

Tell me what's on your feet while doing the dirty work...

Flip flops. They wash off easily and so do my feet, so no ruining other shoes or socks.

I was just thinking about this, I wear flip flops now but the ants are getting me and I would like something I leave by the door and don't have to worry about rinsing off every time I go in and out.

I too have stepped in a nest of ants and cut my feet here & there. My hubby lives in his 'Hunter' Boots even on hot days and they take a beating! I'm thinking about a pair myself and Amazon has a few great brands.

I just use the previous year's sneakers. Harder for bugs to climb in, and the feel of grass/weeds doesn't wig me out on my toes. I just use them for getting messy out in the garden, and at u-pick places where I assume I'll get a little dirty as well. Leave them by the door when I can, and don't really bother trying to rinse them off.

I live in birki clogs in the summer. They are great in the garden, just a rinse and prop them up on the deck upside down (the footbed will takeforever to dry if you don't) and they are ready to go the next time. The only con is the cloggy tan line

I bought some Lands End All Weather Squall Shoes the winter I was pregnant with dd#1 so as not to slip and fall bc they have good tread and I have since discovered that they work fabulously in the garden...they're 4 years old and have held up through every Buffalo : and summer gardening adventures since. Not bad for $30.

I am thinking some serious boots at the moment.

Graphic gardening accident ahead.....

Two weeks ago tomorrow I stepped on a cultivating hoe and put the two middle prongs through my foot. I had on Crocs.

I am a bare foot girl. I go days without knowing where my shoes are. I guess i have just been lucky, and not had any injuries. (Knock wood)

I loathe going shopping, so I have the shopping come to me! Just ordered 3 brands thru my fave Amazon.com and I try them and return what is a poor fit but I am an expert shipper when it's time to send back. I spent 18yrs in retail!!
I received a pair of the awesome boots from Le Chameau their 'iris' boot and it's in a framboise, a rasberry color that is pretty! They fit like a glove!!!!!!!

I'm usually barefoot or have on flip flops. My feet are the last thing in the garden that get watered.

I am doing better, thanks

I am usually barefoot or slip on the Crocs, I know if I do go out either way now I just am going to be a lot more careful. I think those squalls look like a good shoe for around here too, they even have them big enough for my big feet it looks like

i go barefoot a lot, even though i know better. usually i run out just to 'check on something real fast' and then i end up out there for two hours. when i plan to go out, though, i either wear last summer's running shoes, or a pair of inexpensive rainboots that i got at target. the boots have good traction, and keep my feet/legs super clean, but it's hard to squat down for a long time when i'm wearing them. the running shoes don't keep me dry if i step in puddles or mud.

i think im about to start gardening barefoot because i have been wearing my birk sandals and now my feet have an ugly striped tan!

gotta love the flip-flop tan too!

Those fancy boots are gorgeous! I think my feet would sweat to death in something like that though. But I"m bookmarking them for next winter

I mostly do crocs with socks (otherwise pokey weeds get in and annoy the crap out of me) and flip flops. If I have heavy work to do I'm all about old tennis shoes or hikers. I don't wear them for everyday garden work only because we don't wear shoes inside and with a 3 year old and a newborn I'm in and out A LOT!
