Another plea for paint ideas?

The dining room and kitchen are in one square, separated only by carpet in the dining room vs. hardwood flooring in the kitchen. oh and a cabinet that juts out between the two.

so i am having trouble figuring out how to paint the walls. do i paint the entire space the same color?? how do I divide it up?

i really wanted to make the dining room main wall (farthest from the kitchen) a bold red accent wall. the dining room is going to be modern.

but then what...one wall of white and then another colour in the kitchen?

it doesn't help that the other opposing wall has a dropdown ceiling section thingie.

In that case, I would treat the two rooms as one. Paint all the walls in the kitchen/dining room the same colour or have one accent wall. I would not change colour mid wall. It's too choppy looking and will make the space look smaller.

If you paint the farthest dining room wall red, I would have some accent pieces in the kitchen to carry the colour over. A red vase, red dishes/bowls or hang a painting with red in it etc.

If your next question is what colour should the other walls be painted if you do one accent wall in red... I have no idea. I have a hard time matching colours.

what color are the appliances and whatnot? My first thought was a brownish tint, but then depending on your hardwood (like is it an orangey-pine color or brownish) that might be awful. White would look pretty bad. Gray?

yeah, our appliances are all black. the floor is antique oak hardwood. the cabinets are very dark brown. The cream backsplash tile are very nice and have golden flecks in them. So I was thinking a warm gold colour for the kitchen. It absolutely won't work w/ bright red! lol

*sigh*
